Kingdom Hearts Re:coded Trailer May Surprise You

By Spencer . July 20, 2010 . 2:12am

Swinging a keyblade while jumping around on 3D maps is the core of Kingdom Hearts Re:coded. But, that isn’t the only style of gameplay in this Nintendo DS remake. This trailer shows Sora in a side-scrolling level, turn based RPG with Cloud in his party, and what appears to be a run-n-gun stage.

As revealed yesterday, Kingdom Hearts Re:coded is scheduled for October 7 in Japan. A North American release date has not been announced.

Hmm turn based with Cloud and Herc
Interesting really, wonder only applies on Olympus Coliseum?

    • It looks like each chapter has it’s own unique battle system.

      • rar, I hope not. I honestly don’t care for these gameplay experiments SE tacks on to all of its established franchises (Assuming there are any for this game).

        • Their not exactly experimental though. As you can see, one world has 2D platforming, another has turn-based combat, and yet another has an on-rail shooter section… I think. Wonderland looks like it’ll have a stealth level. I think they’re just trying to give all these genres a little KH twist.

Where’s the FPS mode then?? Mickey with an AK!

          • ShinGundam

Shoot-Lock commands on BbS are first-person spell casting ;P

  • YES!! looks a lot better than the last DS KH >_>
It would be cool if they had a TWEWY stage with Modern Japan Sora on the bottom screen and Neku on the top :D

  • Isn’t this a voiced version of the E3 2010 trailer?

  • cowcow

wuts with the Dual of Fates Star Wars music

    • It’s called Destati. It’s always been a piece in the Kingdom Hearts soundtracks.

And I actually quite like it. I think the music quality in this video makes it sound worse than it is. I remember playing the original KH and having shivers run down my spine when I first heard it. :3

  • Same boring worlds with different gameplay.

I guess its better than the yaoi fanservice the main series has.

  • Awesome. They needed to do something to break up the monotony of playing the same worlds over and over. Kingdom Hearts 1, Chain of Memories, Days Over 2…especially those first two. The worlds were way too similar, although deliberate.Epic Music is Epic

Was that final fantasy tactic mode?

  • GamerKT

    Voice acting ftw.

  • lol rpg xD, well some of the parts looked fun, but it seems the events will be visual novel style…

  • Joanna

Wow, Japanese Micky actually sounds like Micky! I am impressed. Goofy could sure some work: his voice needs more goofiness in it.

  • kylehyde

No japanese Donald voice no deal.

Talking seriously, this looks good enough to me, well at least looks fun. But still, I’m dissapointed that I didn’t hear Donald in japanese.

Like every Kingdom Hearts game I always look forward to them and Re:Coded is no exception because I know where this fits in the story and with a secret movie attached to the game I can’t wait for this. I laughed at how people demanded KH3 as soon as this game got announced. Just enjoy the series because every game has a part to play in the story otherwise they wouldn’t make it.
