Dragon Quest VI Renamed Dragon Quest VI: Realms Of Revelation?

By Spencer . July 26, 2010 . 2:49pm

imageAfter announcing Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Reverie for North America, Square Enix hasn’t said anything about the Western release. To be fair, the Nintendo DS remake was officially announced for the West way back in 2008 and wasn’t released in Japan until January of this year.

Now that Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies is out, Square Enix is probably giving Dragon Quest VI another look and, perhaps, another name. Yoichi Wada, CEO of Square Enix, is listed as the registrant for realmsofrevelation.net.

Square Enix also filed trademarks for Los Reino On Ricos, Wandler Zwischen Den Welten, and Nel Regno Dei Sogni in Europe. These, especially the last mark in Italian, sound like they could be international subtitles for Dragon Quest VI too.

If Square Enix is registering trademarks and domain names that means related to Dragon Quest VI that probably means Dragon Quest VI, whether Square Enix or Nintendo publishes it, is on the horizon.

Thanks for the tip about the domain name Liam!

      Never gets old!

    About time.

Eh, I hope not. ‘Reverie’ is better.

EDIT: Y’know, even more than that, isn’t Reverie more fitting? You could argue “Revelation” works, but it’s not as specific.

I wonder why the name change? Either way, I’m interested in what that website will actually be.http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/events/dragohttp://www.gamestop.ca/Catalog/ProductDetails.ahttp://images.bestbuy.com/BestBuy_US/en_US/imag…On other Dragon Quest related news, I know I mentioned the Dragon Quest IX Gamestop event that’ll happen this Saturday before, but Best Buy has it’s own event for the game too for the following week.

Edit: Er… should I have put the links at the end of my comment instead?

Thanks! I had no idea Best Buy was doing that. I’m glad, because now I can skip the GameStop one since the closest participating stores were kind of far from me.

Well the thing is, they’ll probably be different maps, but then again, if the people who went to Gamestop event show up at the Best Buy event, there’s a chance you can get both maps at the event.

        • Joanna

Sorry to pester you…but do you know if this event will also be extended to Canada? The list you provided only has USA locations. :(

I’m going to the GameStop one tomorrow…so I would love to be able to get another map. Thanks for any info :D

Sorry, I looked around a little further than just the link below and I couldn’t come up with anything. The maps from these events will be rewards for future Extra Quests though. So I guess you’ll just have to wait until their available.

I explain which quests give which map there.

          • Joanna

oh, thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. I went to the Gamestop event yesterday and it was great. I managed to canvass 27 people (which is more than I thought would show up). It’s really a lot of fun meeting up with others who like DQ or have the game. :)

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Tommy-Lee/518924335 Tommy Lee

You’re welcome. I ended up canvassing up to 23 people, but I only ended up staying for only half the event because I made arrangements to meet someone before I found out about the event. I couldn’t get the map though because they had some technical difficulties the entire time I was there. It doesn’t bother me though ’cause I was there more for talking with other Dragon Quest fans. The map felt more like a bonus idea.

Reverie sounds a lot better, revelation is just a syllable too much. It doesn’t roll of the tongue as nicely.

nothing will beat dragon quest 5!!

Here’s a filed trademark I can get behind. I was wondering if SquareEnix still had intentions to bring this over. Thank you!

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Tommy-Lee/518924335 Tommy Lee

You do realize that if they brought this over, or released any news about the localization, as quick as possible after it’s January 2010 release in Japan, it would have conflicted with Dragon Quest IX, don’t you?

      • Icon

Of course they don’t want it to conflict with DQ9. But the fact is, the previous remakes didn’t sell as well as DQ8 did, so there was some wondering by the fans as to whether or not the final game in the ‘Zenithia’ trilogy would get a release.

  • Extra_Life

I’m just happy there is some news concerning a potential localised release in the near future, I’d like to play IV, V and VI in a row!

  • M’iau M’iaut

If we are on the subject of VI’s, squeenix, where’s my DS FFVI?

    • Joanna

Didn’t you hear? FF V & VI DS are not happening. Most likely SE is saving them for 3DS.

  • Electrium

That box art is excellent, I hope we get it too!

  • Joanna

Eh, I don’t mind the name change. I’m happy this is still coming over. I was getting a little worried.
