Shantae Developer Working On Thor Game For Sega

By Spencer . July 27, 2010 . 11:13am

Shantae Developer Working On Thor Game For SegaSega Studios San Francisco (originally Secret Level) made Iron Man and Iron Man 2 games for Sega before the studio closed down. So, who’s working on Thor: The Video Game then?

WayForward, the developer of Shantae and Contra 4, are making the Nintendo DS game. Unlike the console Thor games, WayForward’s title is a 2D side-scroller.

Red Fly (Mushroom Men and Ghostbusters: The Video Game on Wii) is developing the PSP and Wii versions of Thor: The Video Game, which have a comic book art style and flight levels.

Liquid Entertainment, a studio that worked on Rise of the Argonauts, is spearheading the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 version, which Sega promises has giant ice trolls to fight.

Liquid Entertainment? I love those guys!

I saw Red Fly and threw up in my mouth a little. But at least they’re only doing the Wii version.

I have no real experience with Liquid Entertainment, so I guess we’ll see. Really, SecretLevel did an adequate job on Iron Man II, so if it is at least that good then it will be alright for a licensed title. I’d like to see another Marvel movie tie-in game made by Raven. The wolverine game was actually better than the movie it went with.

Glad to hear Wayforward working on the DS game. They have a decent track record IMO. Let’s hope they can combine lightning and hammer throwing attacks into a cohesive action title.
