Sega already released a bunch of Hatsune Miku: Project Diva 2 items, including a limited edition PSP. In September, Hatsune Miku superfans can also get a matching Memory Stick Pro Duo.

Gaming blog Hachimaki dug up an Amazon listing for an official 3.9GB Hatsune Miku: Project Diva 2 memory stick. While it says 3.9GB it’s really a 4GB memory stick loaded with PSP custom themes and icons.

The 3,939 yen ($44) memory stick arrives in Japan on September 30.

    3=mi
    9=ku

That’s why all of that got 3 and 9 in their numbers ^^

    • kupomogli

I think the 3.9GB is the actual space left, because the three and nine is san and kyu, while 39 san ju kyu.

      • kupomogli

Unable to edit my message. Work pc sucks. There’s probably not even 3.9GB on the card anyways. Maybe 3.6GB with 100MB of Hatsune Miku stuff.

Japanese it weird because the words can be pronounced differently in different situationsSo 3 is san, but it can also be mi, and 9 can be kyuu or ku Like the 3rd of a month looks like it would be “san nichi”, but is actually pronounced “mikka” This might just be a cool coincidence though.

EDIT: Found a better article on how this number wordplay works http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_wordplay

You’re right, almost all kanji have multiple readings in Jpn depending on what context. 1-10 is ichi ni san shi go roku shichi hachi kyuu/ku, juu, but actually days of the month is tsuitachi, futsuka, “mikka”, yokka, itsuka, muika, nanoka, youka, kokonoka, touka, and the numbers are read differently w/ other counters, or the car “Mitsu-bishi”. My birthday is on the 20th, it’s “hatsuka” (counting the days would be nijuu-nichi), but 20yrs old is “hatachi”, not nijuu-sai. It’s like the 765 pun for the Idolmaster studio, read as na mu ko to sound like Namco. So 39 here is a pun for Miku like holyPaladin said :)

          • holyPaladin

Yap I’m pretty sure they did “39=miku” as intended

seeing the size 3.9 GB and the price 3939 yen

          • Aoshi00

Good observation :) Wish this was bigger though, this is barely larger than a 2gb.. I have FF7-9 on my 8gb plus other stuffs it’s almost full.. even though this is very cool looking, it just ain’t worth ~$50.. if they were to make one for PSPGo (which is dead..), the mini memory stick would be bean sized :)

        • kupomogli

Oh okay. I know very little Japanese so I guess I shouldn’t have assumed.

    • Aoshi00

Cool pun, never thought of it that way, guess it’s like 765 (Namco / Na mu ko) in Idolmaster. While it’s nice to have a special Miku memory stick, you can’t really accessorize your system like a faceplate/DS case and look at it all the time.. plus 4Gb is really small, I have an 8gb and alrdy regret not getting 16.. so this would be more like strictly a collectible..

Hey Aoshi00, I sent you a friend request on Live, figured I would let you know here since my Live name does not match my Disqus/siliconera profile.

        • Aoshi00

Cool beans, just added you. lol, your Live name is similar, good thing I got to pick mine before it was taken :)

Just like Konami, what is it 572? They use that number a lot.

          • Aoshi00

I think you meant “573″, it’s the same thing, the alternate readings of the numbers pronouncing Ko-na-mi. I found this on wiki,

            http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_wordplay#Goroawase

    • bugmeknot

That also explains why there was a vocaloid concert with “39″ in the title.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Hatsume-Mitzuru/651884761 Hatsume Mitzuru

it actually meant hatsune miku “thank you” concert 3= san 9=kyu “sankyu” as Japanese pronounce it so it’s basically Miku thanking her fans.
that’s why it was hatsune mikus 39′s
      go google it :3

Never seen a custom memory stick before! I’d be more willing to actually shell out for this if it was Luka or Rin/Len-branded though…

  • Guest

Haha oh man. It looks great! I want it! Not gonna get it but I want it!

  • malek86

Cool, one of those overpriced branded memory cards. Does anybody buy them?

  • ShinNoKami

XD I wonder if there’s any chance of someone ripping that theme and posting it online

  • karasuKumo

If you get that you are a dedicated fan haha

  • http://twitter.com/cocainexplosion Doctor_Rabbit

Isn’t the Memory Stick always out of view? Why… why would anyone buy this? You’d have to take the stick out (sorry about that) to see Miku, so why would anyone want this?!

I mean, a Miku PSP? Cool. A Miku Memory Stick? Jeez, that’s almost as bad as a Miku hard drive!

    …Don’t tell me.

  • cmurph666

Any chance of this game being release in NA?

  • lordryo

    Really, really want this!
