Square Enix Going Gun Loco

By Spencer . July 30, 2010 . 1:04am

Square Enix Going Gun LocoA quizzical trademark registered by Square Enix showed up in Europe. The makers of Final Fantasy acquired the rights to Gun Loco.

Square Enix already has a third person (monkey hijacking) shooter in development so what could this Gun Loco be for? A spin-off game starring Barret? Probably not, but that was the first thing I thought of when I looked up Gun Loco!

Gun Loco makes me think of the Mexican-themed third-person shooter Total Overdose, which happens to be an Eidos property. Now, which company happens to own Eidos?

Doubt it, they’ve already previous cancelled Total Overdose 2. Don’t see why they’d make anyone now.

Square Enix are going gun loco? They ARE trying to appeal to the west!

Dirge of Cerberus was good so it’d be interesting to see what they are up to.

Maybe Gun Loco is a new name for Mindjack or something.

If Gun Loco really IS a spinoff starring Barret, I bet 4Kids will pick up an anime of it since such a spinoff merchandising potential. 4Kids is allowed to say “gun”, you know:http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:fBUoAqAKo54J:onepiece.wikia.com/wiki/Gan_Fall+gunfall+4kids&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us

I have come to the conclusion that Gun Loco is a Western game. I don’t mean developed in the West but rather a cowboy-themed game. They do use Mexican terms in Western media. Mariachi music even plays in this trailer for a French animated Western called “Tous a l’Ouest”:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWEZeijYqjc

That reminds me of Total Overdose, I loved that game!
