Virtual-On Force Surfing To Stores In December

imageWhile Virtual-On Oratorio Tanagram was an Xbox Live Arcade title, Virtual-On Force is a boxed game. Mr. Santa can stock up on copies at Softmax a few days before his nighttime sleigh ride on on December 22. Online and offline team battles plus a single player mission mode are some of the additions Sega made for the home version.

The game costs 6,090 yen ($70). Virtual-On superfans might want to shell out 10,290 yen ($120) for the Virtual On Force Memorial Box. This collector’s edition includes Virtual On Chronicle 15, a booklet that looks back at 15 years of Virtual-On, and a six disc soundtrack called Virtual On Official Sound Data. All of the items come packaged in a box with artwork from Hajime Katoki.

As of now, Sega has not announced plans to publish Virtual-On Force in any other region.

A six disc soundtrack? Well that’s a lot of music. How many games does it span?

Well, if they include the previous OSTs from the series we’re at 4 discs…

      Virtual On Cybertroopers (1 disc)
Virtual On Oratario Tangram (2 disc)
      Virtual On Force (1 disc)

For the other two discs here, VOOT had two Japanese drama CDs released that could account for it. Or we might get some new arranged music. The only other VO game is Marz, but since that was a PS2-only bastardized version of Force, and I’m not even sure if there was any new music and it might not show up.

Further comment… Sega has some text on the official VO Force page of the official series site ( discussing the package. From what I can gather, it collects the existing OSTs. I’m not exactly sure what they’re saying about this “4 x 6” stuff though, and online translators don’t provide much help.

The original Japanese text of the relevant section:
        まず『電脳戦機バーチャロン オフィシャル サウンドデータ 4×6』。

  • I want it! It would be sexy if they released that in the U.S.!

It would be awesome if Sega released Virtual On Force memorial box collector’s edition in the U.S.

VO Force getting a US release seems exceedingly unlikely. I guess crazier things have happened, but don’t hold your breath.

Please god release it here, or without territorial lockout

I have Twinstick controllers for Saturn, DC, 360, and a set ripped from an arcade unit
