Luminous Arc Developer Working With Nintendo 3DS?

By Spencer . August 3, 2010 . 9:17am

imageRefreshed from a European vacation, Imageepoch CEO Ryoei Mikage blogged about his studio’s development teams.

With Fate/Extra and Last Ranker complete, Mikage reorganizing his staff into new groups. One thing on his mind is the Nintendo 3DS announcement and where he can form a development team to start working on it.

Huh. That’s interesting. Imageepoch, to date, have not announced any plans for the Nintendo 3DS. But, if Mikage is looking for a team his studio must have plans for Nintendo next handheld.

Imageepoch’s first game was Luminous Arc, which was released on the Nintendo DS.

Yes, the 3DS finally has its first boring SRPG in the pipes. It’s about time

Luminous Arc isn’t boring. Not amazing but definitely not boring. A fun little SRPG with a neat romance aspect. I guess LA3 isn’t coming over =/

I hope it does get localized :/ LA2 was fun and LA3 looks even better.

Was the second game better than the first? I didn’t really care for the first game but I’m all for giving a series a second chance if it deserves it.

The second one improves on a lot of the faults of the first one through loads of little tweaks. The story is still very cliched though and is a bit too similar to the first.

LA3 though looks as if it has really big improvements. Much more indepth relationship system for one.

I didn’t play the first. But from what I hear, the second is overall better than the first.

Having played both the first and the second, I don’t think the meagre improvements to the second will be worth you giving it a second chance. Perhaps if you could outline exactly what turned you off LA? That would make it easier for us to address your concerns.

Sounds like a go-ahead for another Disgaea port if I’ve ever heard one.

yes!!! but FIRST, AR TONELICO 3 LOCALIZATION ZOMG

  • maxchain

Show me Vanessa from Luminous Arc in 3D and I’ll show you a 3DS preorder that happens so fast, the receipt will be smoking.

  • onilink888

I’d kill to see Fatima and Vanessa in all their glorious voluptuousness in 3D.

I want Arc Rise Fantasia 2.

Hell, I’d even bite a Arc Rise Fantasia port; providing the localization wasn’t done by allmighty IG-CRAP-NITION

I need Luminous Arc 3 in English first before I can even think about this. C’mon Atlus (or Aksys), don’t leave us hanging!

You know, I used to like these guys, then I realized that they embody everything that’s wrong with the Japanese game industry today. They are thoroughly unambitious, unoriginal, pandering, and mechanical. Every game they have released has been derivative, second-rate JRPG fare that would have been old last gen, let alone this one. It continues to puzzle me how they manage to rope in top-tier (or formerly top-tier) talent to collaborate on their games, but no one who has worked on one of their games has been better off for it. While Level-5 is similar in their workmanlike attitude, at least they have some legitimately original and genuinely FUN games to their name. These guys, not so much.
