The Theme Of Kingdom Hearts 3DS Is Trust

By Spencer . August 3, 2010 . 2:40am

imageSpeaking with Dengeki, Kingdom Hearts mastermind Tetsuya Nomura shared tidbits about Kingdom Hearts 3DS.

Sora and Riku are the main characters of Kingdom Hearts 3DS. Different from Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, Nomura wants players to use both characters while playing the game and is thinking about a two person switching system.

Nomura didn’t discuss the story, but revealed the game’s theme. It’s trust. More specifically, how to trust others.

After 5 or 6 years, it looks like we are still running around in Transverse Town. I don’t know what to say.

    • Draparde

      that made me lol.

    • You can never escape Traverse Town..MUhahahaha!

    • Kaoro

Yeah… depressing. Although I don’t believe for a second these are real 3DS software shots, so it could be just photoshopped footage of previous games.

    • If that really is the case, then Kingdom Hearts will have officially lost me as a fan. I can’t believe that Square Enix thinks people want to play the exact same levels over and over again in different games.

    • PersonaBull

You could probably say “that screencap isn’t from the game this article is talking about.” Probably. I would assume it was from Re:CoM.

I really don’t know why everyone is so butthurt about re-used worlds. Why would Sora NEVER AGAIN go to these worlds that surround each other?

Oh, and Traverse Town was only in KH1 and (Re:)Chain of Memories, and now the most recent Re:Coded, which has just as much of a reason to use Traverse Town as Chain of Memories did. KH2 and 358/2 Days never touched that world. (as it was an accumulation of previously destroyed worlds, apparently)

      • For the record that screenshot was one of the screenshots Square Enix sent with the Kingdom Hearts 3DS announcement.

        • PersonaBull

Hmm, well that confuses me now. I’m very curious to see how they’re gonna slide this one in continuity-wise, considering Sora’s outfit is that of the original Kingdom Hearts in those screenshots Square Enix sent you guys. It would explain why Traverse Town could be still in existence, at least. Well, I can say at least that I’m very excited for some kind of answer now!! haha

      asset recycling ahoy!

  • malek86

    Unfortunately, I can’t trust Squenix.

    • urbanscholar

      Haha, I concur!

  • Playable Riku and Nobodies in a KH1 setting has me interested.

However… some new worlds please! Or at least don’t reuse the KH1/2 layouts.

  • joesz

I can listen to traverse town theme again! the best theme of all games

  • Two-Person Switching scheme… It’s a Wonderful Kingdom Hearts? Kingdom Hearts Ends With You?

  • vrakanox

    Playable Riku? Sold.

  • Guest

Ah….both are playable now? Is there co-op multiplayer too? I’d love that, it means getting to POSSIBLY play it with someone else.

The 258/2 or whatever game on DS was too crap for me to even buy. I borrowed it and gave it back within 7 hours of play…and I was probably near the end too…

    • PersonaBull

I can guarantee you weren’t anywhere near the end. 358/2 Days was most certainly a full game.

      • Guest

A full game? Sure it was…it looked like crap and the story played out like crap too. The story was BORINGLY predictable, almost, the entire way.

        • KHSoraKeyBlade

It was a good game and you can’t say it wasn’t if you didn’t even be bothered to finish it.

          • Guest

I played the first two completely. And I’ve also got the japanese Final Mix version. So go ahead and assume away.

          • KHSoraKeyBlade

I’m not assuming anything all I’m saying is you cannot say that is was a crap game if you played the game for a mere 7hrs. And what does you playing the first two Kingdom Hearts games and owning a copy of final Mix have to do with this? (And I assume you are referring to KH1 and Chain of Memories as the first two because if your on about beating KH1 + KH2 then you are clearly not giving the handheld games a chance)

  • xavier axol

Oh come on! Look i’m happy to hear any new on kingdom hearts but with their crappy ports and sidestoreis, it will just make people more confuse with their overall story. Please square enix, stop ruining an awesome franchise and star making kingdom hearts 3, on a home console

    • KHSoraKeyBlade

The first thing they said was that this wasn’t a port and as for people in europe we never got Re:CoM on the ps2 so we have yet to see a port of a game. and usually the side stories help with understanding the story a bit better. So you shouldn’t demand for them to make a KH3 but on another point we can’t see any signs of a KH3 until FF Versus 13 is at least released because the team are working on that at the moment.

Believe in yourself! Not you, who I believe in. Not me, who believes in you. Believe in you.. who believes in himself! – Kamina, Gurren Laggan

  • It is going to have new worlds. That was confirmed a long time ago, or like 2-3 months ago.
