Kingdom Hearts Re:coded Turns Traverse Town Into A Side-Scroller

By Spencer . August 4, 2010 . 11:20am

Kingdom Hearts fans will revisit Traverse Town (and many other familiar places) in Kingdom Hearts Re:coded, but this time from a different perspective. Traverse Town is home to a playable side-scrolling level where Sora can attack with Thunder Rain. Wonderland has a new twist too, a Space Harrier style shooter.

Here’s a look at three of the games worlds.

Please tell me that only TT has this weird feature!

Every world has its own system. In the Coliseum you battle similarly to Final Fantasy VII.
Besides that, I’m pretty sure they’re more like minigames, considering we saw Sora battling in good ol’ 3D environment style in Traverse Town in the trailer for Re:Coded.

        That cleared things up.
So that was really FF tactical system..interesting.!

I think this game may very well be excellent, but I worry about “franchise fatigue” with all these handheld spin-offs. Speaking for myself, I’m much less eagerly anticipating KH3 than I was two years ago.

SMT on the other hand, I’m pretty sure I’ll never tire of regardless of all the spin-offs. (Although some home console love would be squee-worthy!)

Even though we’ve seen these worlds before, I’m still excited about this game.

The fact it has Birth By Sleep’s battle system made this an instant pre-order for me. All these other gimmicks just make me want it more than I already did!

I’m sick of transverse town, I didn’t really like it the first time around to be honest let alone… what now? 4 times?

    Well now I’m interested!
And I guess I’m the only one not sick of Traverse Town (maybe that has something to do with me still being on the first game ^^;;;;)
