Aya Brea’s Clothes Take Battle Damage In The 3rd Birthday

By Spencer . August 11, 2010 . 1:13am

On The 3rd Birthday site Square Enix revealed a new feature, battle damage. When Aya takes damage her clothes take damage too.

The site also explains the weapons system, which we touched on earlier. Aya can select four different weapons by bringing up a menu with the D-pad. The kind of guns and grenades she gets depends on the character she dives into.

While it wasn’t on Square Enix’s Gamescom lineup, The 3rd Birthday should be at the show. Yoshinori Kitase tweeted the Gamescom version was on his desk when he came into work.

First thing I’m gonna do in this game is let Aya take damage till she’s almost dead… not because of the clothes damaging feature, but because I like to make things more challenging. Th-that’s the truth! You’ll believe me, right? Right?

I think she actually looks better fully dressed.

Also, maybe I missed it, but are there any pictures of her in Liberation form yet? I can’t wait to see it in more detail than what was available in the PSX games.

  • I can already see plenty of guys going, “Hurr hurr. Pixelated boobies” and trying to see how close they can get to making Aya nude by coming close to getting her killed. Just for the lulz, they should have made it to where ALL of her clothing shreds when she dies, so the screen blacks out before you can see her nude. That’s what you get for trying to get a peep show through masochistic violence (is that even a term..? lol). Anyway, I guess it’s a cool idea, but I just hope they don’t go overboard with it. If I want to see some girl get close to naked and kill things, I’ll go play Tomb Raider.Aya Brea has more class than that tramp Lara Croft ever will. Don’t turn Aya into a sex icon too :/

    Flip Bacon, really?

  • Is it a sad day when Squeenix feels the need to copy Illbleed.

    • Why is it sad? Illbleed is the bestest game ever. I hate you!

      • lol. I was being somewhat sarcastic. I totally admit to letting all my friends die in Illbleed.

It is interesting that that is apparently the game’s true ending, too.

It’s still no Ikki Tousen. Where a punch in the ear results in panties being shredded off, one-shot style.

Thanks for giving me my first LOL in the morning @ DUSK. :)
on a serious note the game seems to be very action oriented as I
observed from before. I wonder how much of the past elements made it.
I just hope the game has some exploration and lite rpg in it.
I really liked the 1st game for that.
all in all im so glad they finall decided to make a parasite eve sequal after all these years.

    • That’s where you’re wrong though, lol. It’s not a sequel actually. It’s just a spin off/side story/non cannon/etc. game for the series. The 3rd Birthday is to Parasite Eve as Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core was to Final Fantasy VII.

I wouldn’t consider this a sequel at all and Nomura himself has even admitted to such. The REAL sequel should be out later at some point on an HD console, but knowing him, he’ll just make a sequel of this game instead and try to call it the, “real story”, hoping fans will forget about PE and PE2 since they are a thing of the past now.

      • Scrooge_McDuck

Could you clarify that? “Side-story” and “non-canon” are two different things entirely. Which is it?

    • Ereek

It shows “EXP” in the corner, as well as some other stats, after Aya kills the enemies. It’s safe to say that they’ve retained some RPG elements.

  • Chow

Oh, this is relevant to me interests.

On another note, the HUD really reminds me of something. I don’t know what though, and it’s driving me crazy.

“It’s a mobile TMD. It’s designed to shoot down nuclear missiles, only for defensive purposes of course.”
