Tabata On Why Aya’s Handgun Has Unlimited Bullets

By Spencer . August 11, 2010 . 3:42pm

Tabata On Why Aya’s Handgun Has Unlimited BulletsThe 3rd Birthday has elements of a third person shooter, but players won’t have to worry about running out of ammo. Aya’s handgun has unlimited bullets and here’s why.

“The handgun has unlimited bullets because it has the same role as Final Fantasy’s ‘fight’ command,” director Hajime Tabata said on Twitter.

Tabata also said the two-legged creature shown on the official site is not a Twisted. In those screenshots, Aya is seen dodge rolling away from a punch, which suggests there is another type(s) of enemy in the game.

Right, makes sense… But I made the assumption they would explain the logistics of her “unlimited ammo”.

I am dissapoint, i would’ve preferred it if she had some sort of melee move for the “fight” command. I enjoy the feeling of scavengering for ammo and using my bullets wisely — now i’ll probably just be as careless as i want

I like actually being able to run out of ammo as well. On the first Parasite Eve you’d probably never run out of ammo, but on Parasite Eve 2 there are times when you could if you didn’t go back and revisit any ammo crates. It was also nice how weapons used different bullets rather than just ammo or rockets in the original.

But in PE2 there are shops.

        • kupomogli

You still have to go back to weapon crates and shops to refill your ammo. It’s not like you have infinite ammo. In the original Parasite Eve you’d never run out because enemies drop ammo and every gun uses the same ammo(except Rocket Launchers which rockets are the only thing limited.)

Thanks for the insight, I need to replay PE1 and 2 soon

I also prefer limited ammo (if it makes sense in the context of the game. I’m not talking about realism, but gameplay)
Survival horror staples just aren’t wanted anymore.

That’s good to hear. I have a lot more fun when I don’t have to worry about collecting ammo.

    she stole it from dante

    • neogranzon

      dante ? no, Bayonetta

      • lordryo

No Bayonetta stole it from Dante and then Aya stole it from Bayonetta! ^_^

who cares if she has unlimited bullets/ammo. it’s a videogame, not real life. why does everything have to be so fcuking realistic (in videogames) all the time?

  • Chow

They should just go ahead and technobabble it by saying it involves mitochondrial whatchamacallits.

    Good
