Introducing Rogue, One Of The New Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together Classes

Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together has new classes like the rogue. These tricksters can steal items from enemies.

Square Enix tweaked existing classes by removing gender differences. The amazon (female) and soldier (male) classes have been merged into warrior. You can also make male archers in the PSP re-imagining.

Illustrator Akihiko Yoshida also created new artwork and character portraits for Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together.

We haven’t played it yet so can’t really say they ruined it, but I’m starting to think that Matsuno has no say in the gameplay elements.

Rather than stealing items, I’d prefer to keep that the rare items are dropped by whatever enemy is holding it. It worked very well, and why change what works well?

Also removing class changes by gender is another idea I dislike. With class changes based on gender it gave each set of characters more unique qualities. If you wanted to go towards one class you had to buildup a character through their set of classes, etc. It’s not game breaking, it’s just something I’d rather not have. Oh yeah. And a male witch. That’s going to be retarded.

Maybe they meant that only specific classes would be changed to include both genders.

However the screens are looking good to me, hopefully Square Enix would surprise us and make a simultaneous release for both JP and NA.

And Europe too. It’s already announced. Do it, Squenix! Will it be finally time for me to buy another european PSP game? I’ve been import-only for several months now.

Male witches are awesome. Don’t front.

(…Not that they’re going to be called witches anyway. They’re still wizards.)

        Male witches = warlocks ;)

…D’you mean in this TO remake or in general?

I read that the Witch and Wizard classes were analogous here: http://www.andriasang.com/e/blog/2010/08/13/tactics_ogre_rogue_class/ If they’re actually creating a new Warlock class to match with Witches instead of Wizards…well, okay! (lol so many “w”s)

In general: The word witch is applicable to both genders. Using it to refer to a male might come off as archaic and is somewhat uncommon…but it’s perfectly legit.

But they can’t create a new warlock class because there’s already that class. It’s an advanced class and the only class in the game other than the princess or that can cast dragon magic.

News to me! I’ve never played any of the Ogre installments, and am basically limiting myself to whatever information is posted in news articles and reviews for this remake until I can play it for myself. :)

Male archers will be weird and the rogue class seems pointless since there are already ninjas…but who cares! They can make whatever changes they want so long as the main story has no major alterations.

How I love browsing TO screenshots… feel like I’m in my teens again drooling over tiny pics in magazines of import games I wish I could play:)

Time to dust off my PSP, this remake is starting to look better and better.
