Preparing for the launch of Chocobo’s Mysterious Dungeon this week, Shinji Hashimoto shared a video of the PsOne game running on a PSP.

While Chocobo’s Mysterious Dungeon was not released in North America, Squaresoft published Chocobo’s Mysterious Dungeon 2. Hashimoto said he wanted to release both Chocobo dungeon games in Japan simultaneously, but hasn’t said anything about the sequel since. We’re still waiting for a slew of other Square Enix games that are available on the Japan’s PlayStation Store, but aren’t in North America such as Threads of Fate, Legend of Mana, Front Mission 3

  • wasn’t it kinda obvious? all PSOne classics are PSP enabled, the whole point of PSOne classics was originally the PSP, PS3 support was added later (similiar to the deal with Minis)

the PSP actually does the PSX resolution a lot of justice, the small screen makes everything look much better than it used to on CRT TVs.

I thought the idea was more that the emulation is up and running (so it’s ready for release), and it’s easier/better to show it with a PSP perhaps because the visuals are consistent since the screen comes with the unit unlike PS3 which depends on your TV.

that’s why CFW was made for. If Sony doesn’t bring a game to America, you can still use POPS.
