image Chunsoft has Mystery Dungeon Shiren the Wanderer 5: Fortune Tower and the Dice of Fate scheduled to come out this December, which makes it the second Shiren game this year. Aside from a new story where Shiren and Koppa explore a tower to change their fate, Shiren the Wanderer 5 has new dungeon gimmicks.

Famitsu has screenshots of Shiren in a room full of staircases and a dungeon area with numbers on the ground. The magazine also reports the game supports “1~2 players” and posted a screenshot of two Shirens (Shiren’s doppelganger?) in the same dungeon.

Sega and Spike handled the Shiren the Wanderer series by publishing Shiren the Wanderer 3 and Shiren the Wanderer 4, respectively. Chunsoft will publish Shiren the Wanderer 5 on their own. Aksys is currently working with Chunsoft on 999: 9 Doors, 9 Persons, 9 Rooms.

How do you make a two-player rogue-like game?

  • Eh… don’t care about multiplayer at all… but it won’t matter anyways seeing I’ll have to import this from Japan and no one anywhere close to me will own the game anyhow.
