Square Enix Teases New SaGa GameSquare Enix has plans for the SaGa, also known as the Final Fantasy Legend series in North America, beyond the SaGa 2 remake. The publisher opened a SaGa portal site, which has a spot for the latest game in the series.

Seems like this is going to be one of the games Square Enix will talk about at Tokyo Game Show. Before that happens anyone want to guess what the colored dots represent?

I might be more excited for this if they’d actually bother to bring over the Saga 2 remake, to be honest.

There’s no way this could be anything beyond a handheld title. It’s probably a freaking cellphone game.

Well, it’s a little hard to smacktalk the cell games, since those really DO sell like crazy in Japan. Some of SE’s cellular projects are probably helping to keep them afloat, truth be told.

I might get excited about this if it’s not a portable game.

I’d bet on Romancing SaGa iphone port

    hopefully a SaGa 3 remake…

Unlimited SaGa 2!!!! Kidding. Though the first one would be a really good game if it wasn’t for that retarded reel system.

I’d like the SaGa 2 remake in English first please.

Well, the colored dots remind me of Unlimited SaGa’s logo, so I’ll guess a SaGa strategy-RPG for PS3. I imagine it looking like Unlimited SaGa, colorful backgrounds, characters, and all; that would be somewhat appealing. A new entry in the series for PS3 would suffice.

Even though there is a line on the up side that says “saishinsaku no goshoukai”,there is nothing on there but those disturbing lines.

Itd be nice if it were a console game…i only see one console game from them on the horizon if Front Mission counts…

And it would not surprise me to see companies start making more prominent game franchises come stateside with cellphone/iphone titles. The whole cloud network stuff is something they are quite keen on at the moment.

Announcement will definitely be SaGa 2 DS getting an English localization. How do I know? Because I just finally broke down and bought the import just a week ago after giving up all hope it would ever get localized.

    So many possibilities though…
    - an iPod game or port (S-E is big on iPod/iPhone games lately)?
    - a new DS remake? SaGa 3?
    - new PS3 game?
    - SaGa Frontier remake (they’ve done remakes of one game from each of the SaGa trilogy and Romancing SaGa games, why not Frontier next?)

My personal dream come true would be Unlimited Saga II on PS3. I adore Unlimited, although it’s certainly a divisive game.

No chance, SaGa 3 wasn’t by Kawazu and he evidently hates it.

My bet is a full series revival, like SaGa Frontier 3 for PSP or Romancing SaGa 4 for Wii.

No console games? What about Mindjack, GunLoco, FFXIV, and FF Versus XIII?. And from the western developers, Dungeon Siege 3, Deus Ex 3, a new Hitman game, and whatever else Eidos is doing.

Now if you mean no traditional single player JRPG style console stuff… yeah, pickings are slim until Versus XIII. But that’s not exactly specific to S-E, RPGs on the consoles are pretty few and far between these days anyway. PSP and DS, on the other hand, are just flooded with RPGing.

I’m with you Unlimited Saga II on PS3 would be awesome, though not likely. I sadly must agree with my other posters; this is either another DS remake or even worse a cellphone game (because gamers want the next entry in a well known series on something like that).

    I pray for SaGa Frontier 3 o/

Seriously, why hasn’t SaGa 2 DS been localized, or even announced? I’d bet that the fans DQIX attracted would love the game. Not only that, but it just really seems odd and out of place that S-E hasn’t picked this one up yet.

I’d love to see an HD SaGa game, but handhelds are always a good thing, too.

  • Kamiwoo

Really? That’s a shame about SaGa 3. I know it was different (and to me, the weakest of the 3 GB SaGa games), but with a bit of tweaking like SaGa 2 DS got, it could be worth the effort.

    Saga? I want a CHRONO GAME~!

Hell, It’s been SO long I’d even settle for a spin-off port like
    Suikoden Tierkreis…

    I’m desperate.

So was it futile to hope and pine for a Saga 2 English release? :’(
