Tecmo Wants You To Give Quantum Theory A TryYes, Quantum Theory looks like Gears of War. Is it really like Gears of War? Instead of listening to me or another site ramble about Team Tachyon’s third person shooter, Tecmo Koei hopes you’ll try Quantum Theory and find out for yourself.

 

The publisher put a 758MB demo on PlayStation Network that lets players explore the ever-changing tower and toss Fillena. A Quantum Theory demo is also coming to Xbox Live later this month.

 

Quantum Theory blasts into North America on September 28.

        The game was just two colors, grey and brown; it had ridiculous plot, and simply put dull game mechanics.

          I take it you didn’t play the second one, then? The spectrum of colors used was greatly widened. The plot was…better, but I’ll admit it’s not the greatest story. The game mechanics are where I’ll have to disagree, though. I mean, if you don’t like Third-Person Shooters, then GoW isn’t suddenly going to make you like them, but I find it to be much better than almost any other TPS out there. I didn’t think any part of the game was dull.

          Oh, come on, no one plays Gears of War for the story, and you know it =P I loved the shooting mechanics in the first one, it felt right.

          About the demo, I just didn’t feel compelled to continue playing it after the first two minutes. It… sucks. Oh well, back to that Sengoku Basara demo!

    Will try the demo, but btwn Vanquish and Gears of War 3, pretty much the best TPS there is, it’s hard to be interested in this.. Wonder if this has dual audio too like Vanquish.

    After the Vanquish demo, this is just not good enough. I think, from this point on, if developers are going to make third person, cover-based shooters, Vanquish will be the game to beat. Sure, Gears of War 3 will sell a ton because Microsoft will hype it up like the second coming. Uncharted 3, whenever that gets announced, will obviously be a high quality game, but for everyone else, you can’t get away with just cut-and-pasting Gears after Vanquish.

    I was seriously that impressed by the Vanquish demo and that underwhelmed by the Quantum Theory demo.

    I played the demo it was pretty meh, the aiming and controls need a lot of work. The character details/graphics are nice, but the environment graphics are terrible, and the enemies just explode into puddles of green blood when you kill them, it’s kind of generic. Also when you head shot kill an enemy it zooms in real quick and pans around in slow motion showing their head exploding, while cool at first, got kind of annoying after 15 minutes. I’ll get flamed for this, but It really is a copy & paste gears of war. Even the main guy says little catchy lines like Marcus Fenix when killing enemies.

      This shouldn’t come as a surprise though right. Frankly I had no idea what else people were expecting, it looked to be a blatant rip off of Gears w/ a Kenshiro/Berserk macho char plus a sword fish girl from the get go, and instead of a cool alien world plus European architectures you get monotonous Harry Potter shifting stairs.. and this doesn’t even have local co-op right, how do you play w/ a friend?Gears of War pretty much perfected the cover system alrdy, plus Anya would be playable in Gears 3 :).. And then you have Vanquish which looked infinitely better made by the same people who gave us the awesome Bayonetta, and the demo just proves it and then some. It’s just strange people were dissing Gears and expecting this to be better than Gears somehow just because the guy looks a little better.. Gears might have meatheads, but one reason I liked it so much is because Aliens was one of my fav. movies, playing Gears feels just like that, and being inside the giant worm cutting its heart out, that was so Contra :)

    Downloaded it yesterday, didn’t even play 10 minutes before I deleted it.
