Watch Out For These Etrian Odyssey III F.O.E.s

By Spencer . September 10, 2010 . 11:42am

The most dangerous enemies in Etrian Odyssey III hunt you down. Formido Oppugnatura Exsequens or F.O.E.s appear on the all-important map so you can avoid them. F.O.E.s have some advantages over the player like moving even while you’re occupied with other monsters. Take too long and they’ll join the fight.

Here’s a look at some of the F.O.E.s in Etrian Odyssey III. Hopefully, you’ll see them in the game when you’re strong enough to slay them.

Would somebody who is smarter than I please help me with the pronunciation of “Formido Oppugnatura Exsequens?”

    • Day2Day

      Phonetically it’s “Four-Mee-dough Oh-Poog-na-two-ruh Ec-sek-whens”I hope that helps a bit…

The translation is something like this: (a) following monster worth attacking.
Formido means ‘fear’, but can also mean ‘monster’. Exsequens, which comes from the deponent verb exsequor can mean a lot of things (it has like 12 different meanings) among which is ‘to follow’. Oppugatura is a PFA, coming from the verb oppugnare, which means to attack. I could be wrong though.

  • Even in Siliconera, F.O.E.!

I’ve got to admit… although I try my best, I can never get anywhere in the EO games…

Didn’t stop me from preordering III though…
