Phantasy Star series producer Satoshi Sakai explained Phantasy Star Online 2 will go beyond using the same world and gameplay system. Sakai describes the game as a “completely new work” and a “true successor” to the series.

Unfortunately, no gameplay details were shared and we’ll have to wait until next year for more Phantasy Star Online 2 news.
