Square Enix and Disney are giving Kingdom Hearts Re: Coded a promotional boost with a huge display at Ikspiari, the Downtown Disney-like area in Tokyo Disney Sea.

A huge statue of Sora and pals Goofy, Micky, and Donald was unveiled a few hours ago.

The statute will be on display until the end of this month. Disney and Square Enix also made Kingdom Hearts print seal machines, which are inside the Disney Store.

  • Ooh, baby. I just finished Birth by Sleep and am eagerly awaiting this next addition to the series. From what I can tell, it’s going to make a large connection between BBS and KH3, which will sadly make waiting for KH3 that much more antagonizing

Yeah and apparently KH 3DS is being released after Re:Coded so even more of a wait, oh and versus still needs to be finished :P

      • Yeah, which is why I was really happy that actual gameplay of Versus was shown at TGS, meaning we’re making progress

I don’t go to Disneyland very often but when I went a few years ago I was surprised at the amount of representation that Kingdom Hearts had there: absolutely none. I mean, I don’t think they should do a ride or parades or anything like that but I saw nothing that acknowledged that it even exists. Maybe things are different now but I just find it odd that they have this really popular videogame series and they totally ignore it.

I was in Disneyworld (Florida) last year, and not even the import store in Epcot had a single trace of Kingdom Hearts… or anime/pop-culture… other than Hello Kitty and SanRio.

I mean Disney OWNS all the characters, so it would make loads of sense to promote it in their parks, would it not?

Anyway.. seeing this statue makes me hyped for Re:Coded, too bad its US release is likely going to be sometime next year… -.-

  • That keyblade of his ain’t gonna be much use against sea gull poop.
