Tetsuya Nomura Drops Hints About The Fabula Nova Crystallis Conference

By Spencer . September 20, 2010 . 11:38pm

imageIn January, Square Enix will hold a press conference just for Fabula Nova Crystallis. Yes, you read that right. The compilation of Final Fantasy XIII is having its own event. What is Square Enix going to show?

Tetsuya Nomura gave a few hints in interview with Famitsu and Dengei. Final Fantasy fansite FF-Reunion put all of the clues in one convenient post.

New screens of Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII will be released. Square Enix will announce new characters for Dissidia Duodecim: Final Fantasy. Several new titles will be announced at the show. And there will, of course, be some surprises.

The Final Fantasy event of 2011 takes place on January 11, 2011.

    “new screens”

    • malek86

Oh oh oh, that won’t happen. Enjoy more cutscenes shots and CG stills!

      • MrRobbyM

And some more Kingdom Hearts spin-offs! Muahahahaha!

        • Ereek

Why would they have KH spinoffs at a Fabula Nova Crystallis conference?

          . . .Oh wait.

    • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

Yea, “new screens” sounds so… underwhelming. You’d think they’d have full blowout by now… Such a tease.

    • FF13 Agito had a good show of gameplay, that game looks so good x-x

      • MrRobbyM

Yeah, Agito had some good footage shown. Though, I meant Versus.

  • karasuKumo

I bet they’ll show that leaked trailer there. I’d be happy with any news about Versus to be honest, Agito is looking good too.

    • [The Hunter] Doomrider

What? No! That would be stupid and awful. That was nothing more than a 30 second teaser. And it was also used to announce the conference, so they’re not going to show that again.

      They’ll show a proper trailer, since it’s a “full unveil”. It’ll be awesome =)

      • karasuKumo

I hope you’re right, I’d cry if it was the TGS teaser but for some reason I have a gut feeling that it will be.

        • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

That would be a definite killjoy. But keep in mind the closed TGS footage was already “old”; it showed us what we already saw in previous famitsu pages, only in motion. So it wouldn’t make sense to show the same old stuff again. I’d imagine they’d be farther along in development.

          • karasuKumo

Yeah they did the whole “Noctis walking” thing before at a earlier closed theater when he walked towards a car. There better be a 5min trailer there, we deserve it.

  • Guest

Ugh….obviously this game isnt coming out in 2011

    • joesz

you know we are already at the end of 2010….

      • Guest

        I dun see yer point,,,

        • joesz

you wrote a typo in there and I mistook it with”is”,But now it seems that you fixed it already. so of course its not going to make any sense.

  • joesz

all dam for final fantasy xii versus.I hated the trailer, the only thing I liked about it was when he ran to the gas station.

I’m more interested in the new charters announcement for dissdia

    • Bruce

yeah , i liked agito more , the treailer was well done also the music is the best i’ve heard in an FF game …

  • January is so long away. New titles?! Final Fantasy 15?!

    • I wouldn’t be so optimistic if I were you…

    • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

We won’t get to play FFXV until 2018 anyway so don’t get too worked up over it… If anything… more XIII spin-offs. I feel like they’re gonna milk the XIII number for all the major FF’s this gen and save XV for next gen. :(

  • Kamion

Oh Squenix, why do you torment us so with your Final Fantasy Property?

  • Several new titles will be announced at the show. This kinda blows my mind. I haven’t been keeping track, but they’ve got so many FF-related titles that have been in development for so many years…and that still don’t seem to be anywhere near release. So I guess some of these titles will come out around 2015/2016? I can’t imagine how hard these long waits must be for the Nomura fans anticipating all this stuff. The guy really seems to enjoy giving his fans blue balls, figuratively speaking.

    • Well you know, announce titles and introduce a logo and give us no media until years later.

Im still wagering on Final Fantasy 15..or maybe another multiplatform final fantasy title.

    • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

Every HD Japanese developer this gen enjoys giving their fans blue balls, except Capcom, who seems to have adopted western practices for better or worse.

And yea staggered new title announcements way before previously announced games are released sucks. :/

      • MisterNiwa

Oh my god you are Aokiji!

        • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

          … O_O?

Who’s Aokiji? I was wondering why you were calling me that in another post on here somewhere…

No, really, I think you might have me mistaken for someone else? Was he an active poster here?

          • Bruce

your avatar resembles a character from one piece (anime) called Aokiji , google it :)
            i think that’s what he means …

          • MisterNiwa

Oh excuse me, Aokiji from One Piece is based on the japanese Actor Yusaku Matsuda.

        • malek86

Well, sometimes Oda designes characters to look like famous actors.

  • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

Could one of the surprise be Versus going to the 360? Guess what Square, you idiots, that’s not a surprise. That’s what all your jaded fans and haters already figured.

  • Call me crazy, but I wouldn’t be totally surprised to hear Square Enix announce a PS3 FFVII remake for 2012.

Edited for Fail: Forgot the whole Fabula Unnecessary Name-ness.

    • But thats not a Fabula Nova Chrystallis? I dont know I never played FFVII

      • Oh yeah, you’re right. *sigh* I always forget that have that special label for certain Final Fantasy games.

    • RupanIII

“Forgot the whole Fabula Unnecessary Name-ness.”lol so true. Dear S-E: adding so much filigree to your names/worlds does not automatically make them better/more memorable.

  • cmurph666

Final Fantasy VII Remake for PS3… (hope)

    • karasuKumo

It hurts to be reminded :'(

      • Bruce

i thought people would like that …

    • BadenBadenPrinny

      God I hope not

  • karasuKumo

I laugh at how Versus started early development in 2003 (according to Wikipedia), come on SE stop the spin-offs and focus on your serious games.

    • ShinGundam

Development of what ? This is joke because in 2003, KH2 was on production.

  • Roses4Aria

Announcements of new titles? Sorry, but I can’t get too excited about any of this until I actually see something substantial from one of the games they announced what seems like aeons ago…

Although I have to admit that the announcement of Duodecim was pretty exciting news. If they hand us more like that, I might eat my words, lol.

  • I’m betting it will be:

    – FF14 Expansion
    – KH 3
    – New KH PSP Game
    – FF15
    – A FF for the 3DS, most likely a remake
    – A new Chrono game (ahaha like that’ll happen)
    – A new FF for the PSP, probably some form of a prequel
    – Has Saga 2 been announced for the US yet? If not, a release for that will be announced.
    – TWEWY 2 (the day that happens Bamco will actually release Tales games stateside.)
    – Some new Wii FF game, Crystal Bearers 2 probably.
    – Some XBLA game for the 360
    – News that versus will be released in late 2011, while agito or whatever will be released in Japan around March 2011.
    – At least 1-2 new DS games

    • But its a fabula nova crystallis, so the only possibilities are FF15 (if it somehow is in the same line of game), FF for 3DS is possible, FF for PSP as well…

Hopefully versus will be out in 2011.

Why do they torture their fans FF XIII blew up in their faces because they overhyped that game for like 5 years of teasing they should learn their lesson by now
