428 Writer, Level 5 Staffer, Working On New Ace Attorney Game [Update]

By Spencer . September 24, 2010 . 10:37am

imageJiro Ishii, creator of the perfect scoring visual novel 428, is now working at Level 5 on Time Travelers. Ishii is also quite active on Twitter and game blog Hachimaki caught this interesting tweet.

“Huh? Ah, Gyakuten ○○. I’m working on it with Takumi-san,” Ishii said to Jin Fujisawa, the director of Dragon Quest IX. Fujisawa responded saying the “○○” are an interesting choice of words.

The Takumi-san Ishii is referring to may be Shu Takumi, the creator of the Ace Attorney games. In Japan the Ace Attorney games are called Gyakuten (reversal or turnabout) series. Ace Attorney: Phoenix Wright is called Gyakuten Saiban while the Ace Attorney Investigation games are Gyakuten Kenji.

Since the “○○” is in the title it’s unclear if this will be a new courtroom drama game or a spin-off. A little bit before Tokyo Game Show, Capcom announced Ace Attorney Investigations 2.

Update: Jiro Ishii posted a followup tweet saying there was a “misunderstanding” about the Gyakuten ○○ tweet. Time Travelers is the only game Ishii is working on. Thanks for the update SupaPhly!

Sorry for the mayus, is that those are really good news to me.

  • Wake

Love the series. The third one was still the best. I really hope Phoenix comes back. Seeing Edgeworth as a goof really seems off.

I hope not, Wright’s story is over, I would be very disappointed if they just copped out and went back to Wright instead of actually putting some effort into developing Apollo.

      • DlanorKnox

I hope Apollo gets a second game and remains the star of his title, but I think there’s a lot of story left for Phoenix, especially considering what he’ll be able to do given the events of Apollo Justice.

        • Wake

Yes, Apollo definitely deserves another game.

      • they should just explain better what happened to phoenix and his relationships, i mean, they make us love him and the cast for 3 great games, and suddenly everyone dissapears? please… =/

  • i want more of phoenix

  • Aoshi00

I would be very thrilled the day they announce a Gyakuten Saiban game for the Wii. And yes, more Phoenix, less Apollo, that seems to be the general consensus from Jpn gamers as well.

  • Sounds cool, but…I’ve never played 428 so I can’t say if it’s a good choice or not. (I wonder if I will be able to in the future…)
