Aya’s Lightning Costume Changes Her Voice Too

By Spencer . September 27, 2010 . 2:37am

imageIn The 3rd Birthday players will be able to get a costume that changes Aya Brea into Lightning. This transformation is more than a wardrobe change. Speaking with Dengeki, Tetsuya Nomura said the costume changes her voice will too. Aya takes battle damage in her Lightning outfit, which, if damaged enough, will reveal Lightning’s L’Cie mark.

Final Fantasy fansite FF-Reunion also reports there are more costumes in the game, which also have different voice acting. Players, according to Nomura, will be able to feel the amazing strength of Aya’s voice actress.

Nomura designed a number of characters for The 3rd Birthday. Originally, it was just going to be Aya and Eve. After seeing designs for Hyde and Boss, Nomura wanted to draw those characters too. There are still unannounced characters that Nomura worked on, but Nomura was quick to remind Dengeki that not every character he designed is important.

Director Hajime Tabata says The 3rd Birthday is 85-90% complete. Right now the team is fine tuning the system and debugging. Tabata notes Tokyo Game Show demo build will be different from the final game. There are a number of systems which were not shown, including a hidden part that will show Aya’s strength.

I kinda read that the “mark” is on her chest 0.o so she’g gonna sound like the JP VA of Lightning? Not unless Aya’s VA is actually the VA of Lightning.

    • There’s some rumors going around that Aya’s VA is Maaya Sakamoto, which would prompt the whole “Lighting = Aya” costume thing going around; lots of game designers like to make voice actress jokes, especially if they’ve got famous ones. They’re working poor Maaya to death! Also, points, since Maaya contains “Aya”.

Haha, so I need to play another game to finally see Lightning’s L’Cie Mark :P…

    Not that I mind.

I think I might actually pick this game up. Lightning’s L’cie mark always interested me while playing through FFXIII.

They’d seriously better explain how all these clothings matter when in fact she is only inside CTI HQ. Shouldn’t the soldier’s armors, of w/c you dive into, take effect? Not what Aya is actually wearing?I hope it’s no way like this:”Im wearing a super fancy dress/clothes today. This will make me perform better w/ the OverDive System because I feel so happy and giddy with my new clothes.”I hope all the armors are picked up in the OverDived State not in the actual CTI HQ.
