Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity Pulls A Trick From Disgaea’s Playbook

There’s still more character building to do after you reach the maximum level in Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity. Sega add a reincarnation system to the game where you can send any character over level 50 back to level 1. Why would you want to do this? Reincarnated characters start out with bonus points, which you can use to boost your character’s stats.

Bonus points carry over to your next reincarnation too. So it’s possible, with a lot of work, to surpass parameter limits. Reincarnated characters also retain their battle type levels, which should make them considerably strong compared to a level one character.

After a sparkly effect in front of the type counter, your character reverts back to level one and your player card records the reincarnation.

  • So if I play online trying to stay in the same level range means nothing now? I don’t want to be in a party on not being able to do anything because someone who is my same level is one-shotting everything.

    • ECM

This is reasonable but it sounds like the work involved means that, outside of the completely insane, you’re not going to be running into armies of these types of people.

      • I’ve already seen people in the hundreds in PSP2 (you can transfer your character after all) and since this is kind of an expansion of PSP2 reincarnation won’t be something so weird (can’t find the right word). Anyways what am I complaining about, it’s not like they will release this here or anything…

  • Reincarnating is so addicting in Disgaea, well it was essential for duping…

I wonder if it is unlimited reincarnating with stacked on bonus points in PSP2

  • skyblaze

imitation. the sincerest form of flattery

    • Code

Noo, noo, trust me it’s not, it just gets weird after awhile.

  • Oh christ. its like ragnarok online

I hope reincarnation has a cap. If you reincarnate at once it goes by percentage of base stats the race has at that level. So if you’ve already reincarnated at level 200, it’d make no difference to do it again as you’d only reincarnate with the same stats that you previously did.

Reincarnating (Rebirth) is basically what killed Lunia for me. It was fun at first, though. So, hopefully PSP2 can pull it off!

  • MarkMario

Reminds me of Maple Story Private Servers and Rebirths…
But yeah kind of cool I guess…

sue them sue them sue them NIS sue them!

    • Why? NISA didn’t invent the concept you know…
