Ace Attorney Anniversary Site Teases "Witch Trial"

By Spencer . October 12, 2010 . 12:42am

imageCapcom created a site to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Ace Attorney series, which takes place next year.

Did you know Shu Takumi, the creator of the Ace Attorney franchise, secretly went to game shops on release day to see how his games were selling? Takumi mentioned that tidbit in an interview and said he developed the Ace Attorney series after finishing Dino Crisis 2.

The site also has a tattered book with ??? x ??? in the menu. Majo Saiban, the cover reads, which would translate to Witch Trial in English. Perhaps, a case for a new Ace Attorney game?

Maybe, but first there’s Ace Attorney Investigations 2 which Capcom announced right before Tokyo Game Show.

I still haven’t finished Ace Attorney on Wiiware. Though its my fault since the games just fits a handheld a million times better. Loved what I played. Already a ton of Ace Attorney titles for me to play so can’t say I want MORE but I’m sure after I beat them all I will.

Could it be… Ace Attorney X Umineko?!?!?!?!
    Wright VS Battler?
    Wright VS Beatrice?!

    • Oh man… you had to go there.

Hideki Kamiya showed up at TGS with a sweater saying this. Would Capcom allow Shu Takumi to work with Platinum? :o

Perhaps it’s a hint of a collaboration work? Kamiya x Takumi could be a great team, but I hope the Witch Trial is not implying Bayonetta x Ace Attorney. That would be…an interesting game.

  • Ive actually never played any of the games in this franchise.

    If it involved witches, hm.

    • Dude, play at least the first one nauuuu

      • The images made the games seem utterly text heavy and text driven.

        • It certainly is, but there quite a bit of humor and well scripted dialogue behind all that text! (not like you’re reading a college level novel, either) There is a bit of interacting gameplay as well as it’s part investigating in crime settings and such with evidence and court “OBJECTION(S)!”.
I don’t think you can go wrong with this series; it’s funny, intense, and a colorful cast to boot. If the first case doesn’t rub you the right way with it’s charm you’ll know right away if these games are right for you or not, but I personally recommend it. Just read/watch a review to get a better idea.

Umineko pretty much is Phoenix Wright with witches! Just doesn’t have any gameplay.

  • Whoa, that one guy sure loves his keyboard. It’s… huge, I guess.

  • maxchain

Maybe it’s some sort of crossover between Phoenix Wright and Doki Doki Majo Shinpan, where you have to present your findings from the x-rays/gropings as evidence.

    I’ll see myself out.

  • Yeah, phoenix is in the middle :3

  • Omg want!!!

  • Jellybit

What if this is actually a hint at his inclusion in Marvel VS Capcom 3? Phoenix Wright with the White Witch as his rival.

  • BTA

Hopefully it’s a return to Apollo. Trucy is a magician, after all. :3

    • Joanna

I hope so! There are so many unanswered questions, Apollo’s game is practically screaming for a sequel.
