Tokyo Twilight Busters Blends Battles Into An Adventure Game

Way before Wolf Team started work on the Tales series they developed a horror adventure game for PCs. Tokyo Twilight Busters was one of their earlier games, which begins with the main character searching for his missing archeologist father.

Tokyo Twilight Busters has players search for clues by tapping the touch screen (the PC game used a mouse), but as a twist the game takes place in real-time. If you don’t find clues within a certain amount of time the game can end. Also, Tokyo Twilight Busters has battles where you and the party you formed from completing sub-stories select items for fight sequences.

Here’s a look at the original game.

And the Nintendo DS remake handled by Starfish. Notice the map on the top screen? That’s a new feature that saves players from hand drawing maps on graph paper.

Really like the art and the Shadow Hearts period setting, don’t like real time puzzles though :(..

  • Would like to play this. The character artwork looks so nice and 80s-ish and the theme looks interesting.
But there’s no way I can play with so many kanji. *insert obvious “sombody release this in the west” call here*

Not a fan of timed puzzles, but I’ve wanted to play this ever since I first saw screenshots of the original game. Isn’t it gorgeous?

I know it probably won’t happen, but I’d love if Aksys or someone ported this.

Sounds pretty interesting and I also don’t like timed puzzles (or time limits in general). But nevertheless, I would be willing to give this a try if it ever got a North American release. I’m a sucker for VNs. x3
