Motion Controlled Online Dodgeball Matches Finally Realized In Mario Sports Mix

imageMario Sports Mix has a feature not found in the two Wii Sports games. No, we’re not talking about including Toad as a playable character. He is in there, though. We’re talking about online play.

Mario Sports Mix lets two consoles connect for online hockey, basketball, volleyball, and dodgeball. Each console can support up to two players online, so it’s possible to have a roommate vs. roommate digital dodgeball exhibition match.

While Mario and his friends are the stars of this Wii game we wouldn’t be surprised if some Final Fantasy characters snuck into the game. The character lineup has seven blank spots and most of the Mushroom Kingdom regulars are accounted for. Plus, Mario Hoops 3-on-3, another Square Enix developed Mario sports game, had ninjas and moogles dunking over Mario.

Mario Sports Mix comes out in Japan on November 25 and is slated for release next year in North America.

  • Awesome! Online play makes this a must buy for me now. Not that I would not enjoy playing against computer opponents, but now I can challenge others around the world, lol.I wonder which Square Enix characters it would be. Maybe they will actually put in someone from kingdom hearts, or repeat with Black Mage or Onion Knight I think.

I’ve always enjoyed the Mario Sports games, so looking forward to this one.

I hope the online is better than Mario Kart Wii’s online..
it certainly is a nice inclusion though.
