Square Enix Still Has A Sealed Copy Of Final Fantasy Tactics

By Spencer . October 19, 2010 . 3:37pm

TOLUCTMHQ_1Even though Final Fantasy Tactics fetched triple digits on eBay, Square Enix (technically Squaresoft) kept at least one pristine copy under lock and key. But, now they’re giving it away to promote Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together.

One lucky winner will win Final Fantasy Tactics for PsOne and a non-Greatest Hits copy of Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions by creating funny captions in this contest. Square Enix plans on pushing Tactics Ogre with a series of bi-monthly contests and the heritage of the Final Fantasy Tactics series.

So far, there still isn’t a release date or window for Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together in North America.

Wow, seems like a cool collectors item! I know I would be ever taking it out from the wrappings, lol.

Hey me too! I can keep my razor wit to myself and STILL own a game I’ll never open. Take that, Square!

  • doubletaco

The very first thing I’d do with that would be open it. The wrappers must go!

(I’m not a very good collector.)

    • Code

haha, oh doubletaco that’s not how you collect~!

  • Advent_Andaryu

I bet the person who ends up winning this will put it on eBay.

      I Know I would haha.

I…I don’t get it. Why are they handing *this* out…when they could hand out one of the three Tactics Ogre games already released?

That would make much more sense, really…

It’s easiest for them. S-E was printing copies of certain “PSOne classics” for years after the PS1 was retired, so dragging out a NOS FFT is probably just a matter of pulling one out of the closet and dusting it off. Maybe swapping the cover art out.AFAIK, the Ogre games that aren’t already available over VC were published by Atlus in the US. So S-E wouldn’t have any right to distribute them without some wheeling and dealing.(And you have to admit, two physical copies are a far better value than two digital download vouchers. If you don’t like these, you can at least sell them and buy the OB games off VC—with money left over, I suspect.)

  • Exkaiser

Ah, well, my copy of FFT is still in pretty good condition, even if it is the Greatest Hits label. And I’ve already got the remake…

Besides not needing four copies of the game, I’m no good at caption contests! Whew, don’t have to feel bad about missing out on this one.

I came up with a pretty good entry :) I hope I win.

  • cmurph666

    I have that game already.

  • gatotsu911

Wow. They sure don’t give would-be captioneers much to work with.

A “sealed” copy of FFT is probably one of the most despicable acts ever committed! FFT is so amazing that it needs to be PLAYED! Unwrap that puppy!

  • Joanna

Awesome, it’s open to Canadians as well.

I’m not too good at these captions, but I’ll try my luck anyways.
