The 3rd Birthday Shooting For Q1 2011 In North America

By Spencer . October 19, 2010 . 2:50pm

t3baThe wait for The 3rd Birthday won’t be too long. Japan gets the PSP game first on December 22. Square Enix has The 3rd Birthday slated for Q1 2011 in North America. In plain English, that’s sometime between January 1 and March 31 of next year.

The 3rd Birthday, if you haven’t been following it, is a departure from the Parasite Eve games. It still stars Aya Brea and is set in New York. However, it’s a shooter where Aya uses the Overdive system to control other comrades on the battlefield by swapping their body and mind with hers.

I dunno… It’s one thing if the gameplay is a departure, but this doesn’t feel like Parasite Eve AT ALL.

It’s like they took Jack Sparrow, and put him in the Matrix calling it “Torrent Pirates of the Caribbean”

I’m guessing Nomura is the brains behind this project? Producer and designer, I’m guessing?

    • Ereek

You’d be wrong on your guesses, actually. It’s developed by HexaDrive.

I believe he is doing character design, but he also did character design in PE1 and PE2. They were the heights of his design work, in my opinion.

      • MemeticRichard

Well, I know *that*… I’m asking whether he’s acting as producer for it? You know, lays out the money and the wants?

The latter of which makes me, well, cautious, to say the least regarding this game…

He’s the concept and character designer, and a creative producer for the project, which means he can chime in with suggestions but the director and the actual producer don’t actually have to listen to him.

Gameplay is different for two reasons, the lack of an ATB meter and full 3D environment. otherwise, it has growth system, guns and liberation/PE like originals.

1.) Just close your eyes and listen to the Music. [PE1]2.) Really? It’s just in a “3D” environment with action emphasis. [PE2] I will still look for actual PE skills though since this has almost none (“Crossfire” command, “Evolved DNA” attack, “Heal” and “Liberation Mode [exaggerated version of "Haste" and "Energyshot" combined] ARE NOT ENOUGH imo). Aya w/ amnesia is kinda disheartening still since we don’t know how the story pans out and how exactly she or when she gets her memories back. It’s already pretty good that you have Kyle and Eve for a spin-off game.3.) I think he oversees (overall manager?) of the the game.

    • Day2Day

      I don’t know about Q1 2010, but I’m going to be buying a lot of games from then in Q1 2011… ^w^

      • Kris

Um… I’m on yearlight savings time… yeah. XD

  • Ereek

This cannot come any sooner. The wait is killing me.

With these and Dissidia early next year along with God Eater, I’ll be quite the busy man.

So SquareEnic seems to be having a packed Q1!!! I guess to make up for the Q1 of last year which I guess they raked in the dough, lol.
