Ys: The Oath In Felghana Whirlwinds Into Stores On November 2

By Spencer . October 19, 2010 . 4:26pm

Ys: The Oath in Felghana just went gold, which means its ready for mass production. Xseed also confirmed November 2nd is the official date for Ys: The Oath in Felghana. That’s when the PSP re-imaging of Ys III ships to stores in North America.

Anyone want package art? (Not pictured: the calendar and soundtrack CD bundled with the limited edition.)

I just started Ys: The Oath in Felghana last weekend so look forward impressions on Siliconera soon-ish.

  • This is a compelling offer, the game has 1,900 lines of voice acting…maybe I could ignore the fact that its a remake and check it out. Is the story a tell of friendship or just traditional medieval type stuff?

    • RPGRocker

Mostly a traditional affair. Demons, monsters, evil wizards, betrayals… all the stuff you’d expect from an RPG. While the story is fun and enjoyable, don’t expect it to be a knockout. Playing Ys games for the story is like… playing a Zelda game for its story, or playing a Mario game for its story. Ys is about running around at a million miles an hour, plowing through hordes of monsters with kickass music playing. Oath in Felghana is no exception. Highly recommended.

      • Well between you and me, Ive never played a Zelda game (apart from Oracle of Ages/Seasons), New Super Marios Bros Wii had a compelling story.

If the battle system is that addicting then maybe I will keep a lookout for this game in the December doldrums.

        • mario with a compelling story?

          what ???

    • SolidusSnake

nah just boring fantasy stuff. it doesn’t even have ninja in orange jumpsuits or soul reapers D:

      • LOL, that is actually what I ask people when I ask them for suggestions for manga to read…does it have ninja, pirates, or shinigami, and if it doesnt then I usually wont read it initially.

Though does this game have ninjas? seriously?

    • shion16

The best way to name it
a Hard Rock dungeon crawling game

  • kupomogli

    Preordered already.

  • WonderSteve

    Better finish Ys Seven fast!

  • Boring game for dumb babies(jk I love you YsF. You’re still the king!)

  • Awesome, can’t wait for this.

  • cmurph666

My god~! Why is there so many PSP titles to buy all of a sudden?!

  • Yes!!! A dream come true! And with an awesome soundtrack CD to boot!!

  • RAVENKam

    Day one.

  • RAVENKam

It’s funny but I’m about 60% through The Ark of Napishtim on the PSP and I’m totally at odds with what is essentially a great game with a god awful port. Would be nice if Falcom would port this properly or remake it or something given the fantastic work they’ve done on the psp.

    • SolidusSnake

if it’s anywhere nearly as bad as the PSP Mana Khemia port then you’ve got balls of steel for getting that far.

I read somewhere (probably here or xseed’s facebook page) that it would be pretty difficult to localize another version of Ys 6 since the rights are tied up with Konami.

      • RAVENKam

That’s a shame really. I guess I’ll just have make to with a copy of the PC or PS2 version for the definitive Ys 6 experience.

    • kupomogli

If you’re playing it on the PSP2000 or 3000 then the load times aren’t that bad. One to two seconds each screen. Playing it on the original PSP it’s 6-12 seconds a screen(varies.)

The PS2 version has slightly more load times than the PSP version when playing on the PSP Slim.

Here are two videos both running the game off UMD.

  • Why is it still not in the database of gamestop canada?

  • Decided to exercise some restraint and went with the standard version this time. The sampler soundtrack would have been nice, but if I really enjoy the music I’ll just end up ordering the full OST from Falcom…

    • Companies go through the effort of setting up these nice versions and youre just going to turn it down? It isnt a large difference in price :( just saiyan.

      • No, it’s not much, but why pay the difference when I’m not super jazzed about the contents? Alack! Unlike my wishlist, my recreational budget is most definitely finite. That extra $10 will be well-spent elsewhere.

        One last thing:
        just saiyan.

  • I love You Xseed :3
    I can’t wait!!!

    Double post

  • falcomgamefan

Ys: The Oath in Felghana blows. I can’t for the life of me figure out why Falcom has decided to resurrect one of its worst Ys games. Even the new PSP version didn’t sell well in Japan and I’m not surprised either. I’d rather spend money on something newer than take a rehash of one of my most hated Ys games on the PC and one that is basically five years old. Even the new English voices just irked me the wrong way. How about an Ys 8 instead of going backwards to this stupid Ys game and then the soon to be Ys I&II which is like 10 years old? Sorry, my money will be spent on far better things than this. And what’s up with all these cheap items like a tacky calendar and a half a soundtrack? Nobody’s gouging me ten bucks for crap like that. It’s like being sold a half-eaten bagel from Einstein’s with the soundtrack. Those items CAN’T cost more than a buck to make because I could print out the calendar on super-nice photo paper and burn something like that for about 25 cents tops.

    • What? This boggles me, arent you a Falcom game fan? You should be shouted exuberant praise for this game and convincing those of us whove never played any games in the YS series to try it out. Why you so negative?

      • falcomgamefan

Absolutely. But that doesn’t mean I praise their crappy games and tell people they should waste their money on them. Falcom’s got plenty of NEWER games that would most likely be more suited for this generation of gamers than these old Ys titles or the Trails in the Sky trilogy (which I absolutely abhor and consider to be one of the most boring and linear gaming experiences in recent RPG history). Dude, ten buck says nobody at Xseed even played through these three games before they decided to license them or they would have been like…these are um, HUGE…and not fun…at all.
