Parasite Eve Infects PlayStation Network Next Week

By Spencer . October 25, 2010 . 1:46am

imageAs a prelude to The 3rd Birthday, Square Enix is putting both Parasite Eve titles on PlayStation Network in Japan.

Parasite Eve is on deck first with a November 4 release. It’s more Resident Evil-like sequel Parasite Eve 2 arrives a week later on November 11. Each digital game will cost 600 yen ($7.50). If you’ve never seen a crocodile mutate into a monster, engraved your name on a custom gun or just want to know who this Aya character we keep talking about is give these PsOne games a look.

We hope Square Enix USA will pull off a similar promotion before The 3rd Birthday launches earlier next year. On the other hand, North America missed out on Front Mission 3, which Square Enix re-released in Europe as a warm up to Front Mission Evolved.

My physical copies still work, but I’m certainly not complaining about this. The more people who can play these games the better.

Also, though it doesn’t look as good as PE2, which really was some of the best on PS1, I really like the look of the FMVs in PE1. They have a style to them that lets you define them from anywhere.

      true to that dude.

I’ve really been waiting for this to be released for PSN.

I can’t wait till next week.

poor rat from PE1,still feel sadden each time I see his innocent face turned into a hideous monster

    • About the first games CG scenes look:
It’s a nice compromise between anime characters and 3d. Sunsoft also nailed that look in their somewhat underappreciated gameT.R.A.G./Hard Edge.

“Square Enix is putting both Parasite Eve titles on PlayStation Network” =)

    “in Japan.” =(

I still have my original copy of Parasite Eve, but I don’t own the sequel any more… it’d be nice to see a stateside PSN release.

I had the same reaction to that. ‘in Japan.’ As you, I hope it’ll come to the Western countries.

  • Still never played part two. Loved part one. Still own my copy of it. Would definitely download two if it came Stateside.

  • I hope SE does relea-se it on Europe , i got FM3 , since i didnt had a chance to own it before.
And i do apreciate playing Sagas , or by order so yeah «« or else ill lhave to leave the 3rd B on hold until i can play the other 2.

    • Front Mission 3…the game that started my mecha addiction :( , and about PE1 & PE2 i´ll love to play those games again however the one i truly want is Einhänder u.u (damn… almost half of my posts contain that word XD)

Don’t get your hopes up. S-E re-releasing PS1 games on PSN in Japan apparently means nothing for the US unless “Final Fantasy” is in the title and it can be hyped by Sony at some press event.

LOTS of PS1 games that got US releases are on Japan’s PSN and not in the US. Vagrant Story (adding insult to injury, it IS on the European PSN in English), Xenogears, Legend of Mana, Front Mission 3, SaGa Frontier 1 and 2, Bushido Blade 1 and 2, Brave Fencer Musashi, Threads of Fate, Einhander, Ehrgeiz, individual releases of FFI and FFII (which released in the combined Origins disc in the US). Now add Parasite Eve 1 and 2 to the list.

Japan also has several PS1 games on PSN that never got US releases (Front Mission 1, 2, and Alternative, Chocobo Racing, Chocobo’s Dungeon 1, Soukaigi). Get the impression that S-E Japan cares more about doing these releases than the US side does?

    • The big difference being that in this case the games are related to a new title Squenix wants to push. Might give them a slight advantage.

Parasite Eve 2 was a horrible game. I never did manage to force myself to finish it.
