Naruto Shippuden: Gekitou Ninja Taisen Special Roster Has Minato, Raikage, And Sage Naruto

Japan gets two Naruto fighting games this year. Developer Eighting is making Naruto Shippuden: Gekitou Ninja Taisen Special for Wii.

While V-Jump was recording a fight with Sage Naruto and Sasuke, they also briefly revealed the character select screen. Pretty much all of the characters from the West-only game Naruto Shippuden: Clash of Ninja Revolution 3 are in the game plus newcomers Killer Bee, Sage Mode Naruto, Minato, and Raikage. You can see these four characters in the bottom-middle of the screenshot. This game will be the first Naruto game with the Raikage as a playable character.

Let’s take a look at the fight which has a Sasuke/Itachi team up against Naruto/Minato.

Naruto Shippuden: Gekitou Ninja Taisen Special comes out on December 2 in Japan. Like Clash of Ninja Revolution 3, this Wii game supports online play over Nintendo Wi-Fi.

  • *first*Im quite excited!!!!!!! lol! This just goes to show that Naruto continues to retain its fine high quality and just gets better and better with each new title. Looks like the games are slowly starting to advance along in the plot. I cant wait until they bring in the fifth Mizukage and Chojuro!!!!Awesome game and I cant wait for Atlus to bring it out here in the US!

    • First? Are you 15 years old?

      • Its one of my favorite type of comments to see people post on articles and stuff; its so simple yet so powerful (of course when the person leaves a comment after it, and not just posting a blank *first*). Unfortunately, Im rarely first on most sites. Perhaps I just have a weird sense of humor, lol.

    • Its the same recycled crap as the last 1.
      No new movesets.
Doubt everybody is gonna have a new moveset.
      Same boring music.
      Same dull stages.
Shitty roster. (where is Taka, Pain, Konan, & Tobi?

      • *sigh*

        just don’t bother man

      • I honestly could not find the words to describe how I felt about that comment. I think each game is a fresh new experience. Sure its not like Ultimate Ninja but it is still awesome on its. The roster is jam packed with fan favorites, it should please and delight everyone. And lets be real here, too often I find people forget who the shikigami ninja is, Konan is so under appreciated by the Naruto community. So she will not be missed by most people.

Ironicly one of my friends will probably ignore this game because Konan isint in the game lol

Hey hey hey now the japanese versions or recycled crap. However the western versions gets better with each entry. NCONR3 is the best game in the series so far so as long as the western one continues to be good i’m good.

        • Clash of Ninja Revolution 3 is the best fighter on the Wii (best Naruto Fighter that is not on the PS3 or the PSP)

  • Draparde

I tend to have more fun with these games than the ultamate ninja series, i’m glad to see ill enjoy this one too! if the trend continues. we’ll have more characters when it releases state side.

  • joesz

    this game have two things.

1- it adds a patch of great and new characters that were never seen before in the other installments.

    2-thegame play,sucks…sucks ultimately..

    • raymk

Hey the gameplay does not suck, its the only naruto games that is tournyment viable which means something. Its the only naruto series that’s closer to an actual fighting game than a party game.

  • I never liked the fights on these games, it doesnt feels flexible

  • Great for Killer Bee and Raikage…….though I was hoping for more characters after a over year of waiting(more since I never played CoN2-3). Where’s Pain, Mei, I haven’t been watching the crap of an filler filled anime but couldn’t they just wait till after the Kage Summit…..seriously? Just a few more months and they could’ve had at least 5-6 more characters.

And the gameplay sucks? Seriously? I mean it’s not exactly viewed as an AAA quality fighting game title as the heavy hitters out there but it does not suck at the least. Yeah it’s really really REALLY repetitive after minor tweaks all these years but that doesn’t mean it’s crap…..that doesn’t matter to casual fans but it matters to the dedicated small group of fans who love the tweaks it’s been getting. I wouldn’t see a major upgrade till Nintendo upgrades it’s wayyyyy outta date hardware whenever they do. You can’t expect CoN to match the radical gameplay change that the Ultimate series had with UNS if it doesn’t has the hardware to help it out. That said, Nintendo REALLY needs to get the ball rolling with a Wii HD already…..

Off Topic but damnit, One Piece needs a freakin’ fighting game.

    • Grand Battle, Grand Adventure, Unlimited Adventure, Unlimited Cruise…these are all One Piece fighting games. There’s also gigant battle on the DS

      • I was hoping something new actually since sadly, not a lot of them come out often. I wouldn’t mind a 2D style OP fighting game or maybe something similar to Naruto:UNS. OP is basically DBZ of this time…..dunno why there’s not as much games out since it’s popularity in Japan is so huge.

I would like to try Gigant Battle since that’s pretty new. :)

  • Lol those two guys sure are enthusiastic. But Eighting.. meh

I don’t know whether or not to be impressed by this. It has been a little while since they last made EX3 and yet this game looks like it reuses literally about 95% of the content. Sage Naruto looks to be almost completely recycled animations and Itachi is unchanged. They didn’t bother giving team supers to Sasuke and Itachi or Sage Naruto and the Fourth Hokage, which I find rather silly. Aside from maybe ten new supers in the game total, it will probably be exactly the same as EX3, which was virtually identical to all the other EX games. The sad thing is that you can usually see real progress from games, but when I look at EX3 and Special after playing GNT4 and the original Clash of Ninja games, I can’t believe there has been so many games between them when they have seen little actual improvement over the course of nearly ten years. Profound sadness. It’s Bleach Heat the Soul 7 all over again.

  • Cloud_ST

I prefer the Ultimate Ninja games, specially the PS2 ones, but this ones are not that bad to play around with friends and stuff.

  • karasuKumo

And some thought this could compete with Storms sales … PAHAHAH! The Raikage is the only good thing to happen to this game. I expected more but then again it is Tomy.

I’ll just save my money and buy Accel 4/UN6 because we all know that’ll be announced soon enough. Hopefully on the PS3.

  • SouskeSagara

This game is the same as the other games… I prefer Ultimate ninja more the 2d style is much more accurate to control… Then again Wii sucks…
