Ghost Trick Ready To Possess Nintendo DS In January

By Spencer . October 28, 2010 . 8:55am

The next game from Shu Takumi, the creator of the Ace Attorney series, opens with the main character getting shot. After insight from a desk lamp, Sissel makes use of his ghastly form to rewind time and possess objects to save another person’s life.

Capcom announced Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective will be in stores on January 11, 2011. The news came with new North American box art.

"The appeal of having a ghost is because he’s from the ghost world he can view the lives of these characters – mysteries, lives, puzzles, and challenges, one step removed from the situation. He’s interacting with them, but he is also an observer," Takumi explained in a Siliconera interview when we asked him about making a ghost for a main character.

I can’t wait as this is currently my most anticipated DS game ^_^

I thought this game had already been announced for November? Or am I getting it confused with “999″ or something?

That was a placeholder at more than one retailer. Don’t recall Capcom ever publicly giving a date.

Companies will often give a window or expected ship date so retailers are able to put skus in their systems for pre-orders, stocking slots, product insurance requirements or whatever. All us consumers can do is wait.

999 as noted, is still on track for mid-November and should be a must buy for anyone who plays the mystery genre on the DS.

Yeah, I know how that works, I just didn’t realize it wasn’t official I guess. Or maybe I didn’t notice because a lot of placeholders are more obvious, like “Q1″ or “12/31/10″. Still, thanks though.

The first great DS game of the year. Awesome.I like the artwork, but considering some things I have to say that this could be interpreted in strange funny way.First Sissel’s ghostly body began at the heigh of his butt.Second, is know that the persons at the few time of dying tend to fart. And third is said that the persons at moment of died lose 21 Grams, and also, theres was belief that this is the soul’s weight. So make a relation of all this things, it can be asumed how his soul gets separated from his body when he passed away, is kinda funny.

This is one of the few DS games on my watchlist. I’m satisfied with the date. It’s a good one, just the right time for a story based game.
The PAL version releases 3 days later and will be published by Nintendo. I hope that means the translation will be of high quality (Capcom’s German translations for example are rather dreadful)

Definitely going to but it. Interesting change of box art. It’s a lot less humorous, but I guess it makes more sense LOL.

I prefer the simpler Japanese title art (I think my taste in aesthetics is closer to Japanese because I usually prefer their box art – like Phoenix Wright 1, I liked the simpler Japanese style that Capcom kept after instalment 1 and I love the simple logos on the box for FFs).I’m a little sad this is coming out in January since Amazon had me pumped thinking it was going to be out in November. All well, I’m still picking it up day 1 (like 999). VNs need all the support they can get~
