Hatsune Miku: Project Diva 2nd Sales Strongest Out Of Sega’s PSP Lineup

imageSega released a few sales figures today for key titles, all of which happen to be Japan-only PSP games.

Since its July 22nd launch, Hatsune Miku: Project Diva 2nd sold 340,000 units in Japan. Black Panther: New Yakuza Chapter isn’t far behind with 250,000 units. The Yakuza spinoff was released a few weeks ago on September 22. Sales for K-on! After School Live clocked in at 210,000 units. Licensed music/rhythm games are doing quite well for Sega.

Sales data for Vanquish, one of Sega’s key titles for this fiscal year, have not been announced by the publisher.

    I am unsurprised.

Though I figure the sales of the new Love Plus on 3DS will cause a sudden swarm of millions of dollars in Nintendo’s home office (I know, a bit off subject, but still relatively close due to the MOE factors)

and like i said before: ” a lot of enraged (new)ex-girlfriends”

  • OneOkami

I’m very happy to hear that. I have enjoyed both games tremendously and are two of my favorites of all time.

    • superdry

Same here. Both Project Divas are my most played games on my PSP (160 hours combined and still counting). I’m glad that PJD2 did well in sales…that should hopefully guarantee a third one sometime next year, maybe?

Of course SEGA is probably pulling in some extra dough thanks to DLC for PJD and PJD2. The two recently released idolmaster songs are done well…funny having virtual idols sing songs from other virtual idols.

  • Apollokids

Gotta love the SEGA intro from Hatsune Miku.

    • Code

rar, that’s great >w<; I wish Sega always had it with there logo!

      • Apollokids

You and me both. Having that logo would prolly have given most sega games and extra point to their score =]

        • K-On had one, too

I’m guessing not many like Yui, though… Still, I like hearing these again.

          • I love Yui, but the voice doesn’t really fit, IMO. It just feels…. flat?
            I’d rather have Mio/Tsumugi saying ‘Seeee-gaaaa~’

    • Guhahaha that was my SMS tone since last year. Rawr!

  • And one of those 350k units sold was mine! I love the game! ^_^

    • Me tooo! …..but my wallet…..

    • Aoshi00

Me three, though I really would like to see Miku on console. At this rate, there should be one right…?

      • How about Hatsune Miku Dreamy Theater? Is on the Japanese PSN and you play it using your Project Diva game.

        • Aoshi00

I don’t have the first game, only Diva 2. I guess Dreamy Theater should be coming for the 2nd game later as well, maybe then I would pluck down the 3000 yen for it. I just want them to build a good looking console game from the ground up, instead of being cheap by cranking out countless PSP games and adding DLCs and such (cough Valkyria Chronicles cough). A PSP game plus DLC is like over $100 together.. Part of the reason I enjoy Dream Club or IdolMaster (to a lesser extent) is because of the amazing cel shaded anime graphics, I thought Miku could do better on the big screen (as I’m not the biggest handheld fan).

          • Gestahl

I have the first Dreamy Theater and it’s amazing. Wish they’d build a console one from the ground-up though – as of now you have to plug-in your PSP every time you want to start the game and you cannot do any unlocking on PS3, only on PSP (which is a bit annoying).

  • jotun_of_greed

    very glad to hear it.
haven’t been able to get excellent in PoPiPo =_=

  • maxchain

Knock knock, SEGA of America! It’s Opportunity.

    • cj_iwakura

Don’t be silly, this would please fans and bring in a new audience.
