Nameless Squad Dares You To Try Valkyria Chronicles 3 Next Week [Update]

By Spencer . November 2, 2010 . 11:54pm

imageSega set a date for the first Valkyria Chronicles 3 demo and it’s going to be on PlayStation Network soon. Real soon. November 9 soon, according to this week’s issue of Famitsu.

One major system change compared to Valkyria Chronicles 2 is all characters can be changed freely between the five soldier types. Some characters, however, will have strengths and weaknesses. After battle, all troops in the fight receive experience points.

Valkyria Chronicles 3 also changes the battle potential system a bit by introducing a visual grid called the "master table" where you can direct characters sort of like Final Fantasy X’s sphere board.

Sega has Valkyria Chronicles 3 slated for January 27, 2011 in Japan. Currently, the PSP game has not been announced for North America.

Update: Sega released screenshots of the two-mission demo. Clear it and you’ll be able to import the save file into the retail game to obtain a limited weapon. The Valkyria Chronicles 3 demo requires 160MB of storage space on a Memory Stick.

Oh, cool, I thought it was pretty lame that only Avan could change, uh, “jobs” in VC2. Now if they could just do something about the tiny maps/teams…

    • raymk

Well the tiny teams have been taken care of i heard you can deploy 7 or 8 somewhere, the one that’s not confirmed is the small maps as they did say in an interview that the maps were bigger no one has seen them yet.

      • Yuan

While we haven’t seen the details about map size other than some from demo, there’ll be various shape for the map.
And you can deploy your troops up to 5 in 1 area and 9 total.

  • Looking forward to playing this ;D

  • holyPaladin

Yes I’m gonna try this :)

  • Yipee~~!! Another Valkyria game!! Can’t wait to try it… Hope that it will arrive in the NA and EU soon!

  • I’d like to play it, but, you know, they didn’t put it on the right system, yet again…

    • Volcynika

Right system != system you want it on. Deal with it.

      • No. Deal with that.

        • Volcynika

Hahaha. Fight on, bitter console warrior.

    • notworksafe

Wow. Japanese company caters to Japanese gamers and their preferred system! Amazing!Oh well. You’ve only got yourself to blame for missing out on good games.

I like the way the cutscenes look, though I’m taking a guess the ones shown are actually from mid-battle dialogues rather than story scenes.

Also, “After battle, all troops in the fight receive experience points”? I guess that means their individual class-change qualifications, since VC has always had a levelling system that affected entire classes.

  • Rarutos

Aah, I can’t wait! If I think I can understand the demo enough, I might import it because I’m just that impatient. >w<

Of course, I'd get the English release too.

Above all else, this “master table” system is the thing that I’m most excited for now in VC3. I absolutely loved the sphere grid system in FFX, and if this master grid is even only slightly similar, then this game is going to be amazing. I can’t believe there are still some spoiled people out there who are complaining about this game on the PSP; the gameplay is the thing that matters most, and the series has proven that it doesn’t need a pretty little HD console to continue to evolve and improve for the better.

  • neocatzon

and here I am haven’t finished VC 1

    • Don’t worry dude. I’m on the same boat as you are.

I still bought my copy of VC2 day one, and I’ll buy this day one too. I just hope the next one will be back on the PS3 ;_;.

    • EvilAkito

I’ve barely touched VC 1 and haven’t even bought VC 2 yet. I have quite a bit of catching up to do.
