Ghostlight Picks Up Two Idea Factory PSP Strategy RPGs

By Spencer . November 3, 2010 . 11:01am

imageGhostlight and Idea Factory are like best buds now. In addition to grabbing the rights to Agarest Senki Zero, the publisher picked up two PSP strategy RPGs. Through a press release the publisher announced "Spectral Souls 2" and "Generation of Chaos V".

Don’t worry, North American readers, both of these games were actually released here years ago by NIS America. Generation of Chaos V is really Aedis Eclipse: Generation of Chaos. Spectral Souls 2 was named Spectral Souls here considering it was the West’s first encounter with the series.

We’re not sure what naming Ghostlight is going with or if they’re going to license NIS America’s localization. Sister company Midas Interactive published Generation of Chaos and Spectral vs. Generation years ago.

See, this is one of the reasons why Idea Factory is suddenly rolling in money.

A hat tip to Martyn and Zach for the tip. *bows*

  • Well reviews for either game werent that spectacular. I remember pondering for over a year on getting either game on my PSP. Customer reviews were all scattered in terms of pros and cons, so I was stuck in the land of indecision.

    • Reviews will do that, generally speaking you will not know if you like it unless you play it yourself in the end. Same with me and Dead Rising 2. Everyone was all over it and wanted me to get it. I have played it and I must say, it is not my type of game.

I imported Aedis Eclipse a while ago, and I must say, it’s pretty interesting. Not worth the full RRP, but worth something. Has the potential to be confusing at times, though, so if you do ever decide to splash out on it, be wary. =D

      • It also has horrible slowdown in both physical and digital formats. That personally is a deal breaker as it distracts from enjoyment.

        • Yui

Mmm, true. I guess I’m just too used to slowdown. =D

“Spectral Souls 2 have been annouced”

I applaud any company that is willing to release on retail niche PSP games in Europe in these days. I don’t know if they are brave or stupid.

  • xhunter

Gah…I never got to play Spectral Souls yet. >.< It's false hope, but I really hope NISA could make it available on PSN.

  • Ephidel

Why on earth would ANYONE want to inflict the loading mess that is Spectral Souls on more people? :(

  • landlock

It should be noted that these are PSN Network only titles in Europe.

  • Ereek

Technical problems aside (both games have some horrible loading issues), Aedis Eclipse is probably one of the best Idea Factory games.

“Hey guys let’s pretend that the second game in the series is actually the first, that won’t confuse people later at all!”

EDIT: And yes, I realize this happened before with Final Fantasy; but don’t pretend you weren’t going wtf when FF7 came out.

  • I like Spectral Soul, It was a good game with a decent plot, three stories that you can choose from different perspectives and a lot of characters to recruit.

Im looking foward to the secuel and I expect something good with Generetion Chaos at least.

  • please don’t try to translate it yourself Ghostlight…
