Try Valkyria Chronicles III Now, Anime And Nendoroids Coming Later

By Spencer . November 9, 2010 . 3:10pm

image Sega put a demo of Valkyria Chronicles III on PlayStation Network today and held a press conference about cross-media plans.

In addition to the PSP game, Sega has an OVA (original video animation) planned for Valkyria Chronicles III. The animated feature will have its own story with the same voice actors as the game. Two episodes are set to debut after the game in spring 2011 on PlayStation Network.

Riela and Imca, two characters from the Nameless squad in Valkyria Chronicles III, are getting Nendoroid-ized. Dengeki Online has a picture of the two characters as Good Smile figures. Imca even has a minature version of her in-game weapon.

Going back to game, Production I.G. finished the game’s opening movie which includes a theme song from pop star May’n.

I love the gameplay in this series, so I’ll keep playing them, but I think story-wise I’m getting farther and farther from their target audience.

Production I.G.! We’re in for a great OP.

Are they doing the OVA too?

this is an instance where I’m glad that SEGA US removes the JP OP song and switches it with instrumentals as in the previous 2 VCs.

I really wouldn’t want to hear another generic May’n song.

May’n as Sheryl Nome (Macross Frontier, movie excluded) is awesome..

      But not now

Waaaaant, i hope the story is good

I just purchased VC2, which is on hold until I finish Oath in Felghana. I’ll have a lot of catching up to do before this game comes out.

How are you liking Oath? I haven’t had time to play mine yet.

      • EvilAkito

I’m absolutely loving it. As great as Ys Seven is, Oath is a bit more enjoyable since it moves along faster and doesn’t waste as much of your time with long drawn-out dialogue scenes.

I’ve played the demo twice now and the difference between this and the second… Even though it’s a demo you can tell it’s going to be good. Everything about it from the character models to the cutscenes to the music are much more developed making it feel like a proper story.

The Specials got me really excited. I think they’re a really cool new addition to the series. Especially Reila’s. Imca’s is really awesome but Reila’s… finally.

I wish Sega does something like this for their upcoming Phantasy Star. I would love an OVA.

Do we know if by “original story” do they mean it’ll be non-canon like the VC1 anime? Or will it be canon and go over things not covered in the game?

Japan’s population is getting older so why is Sega still trying to appeal to a younger customer with VC?

      Japan is young at heart?
