TurboGrafx-16 Games Hitting PSN In Europe

imageIn Japan, PlayStation Network has a sizable library of downloadable TurboGrafx-16 games. Classics including Bonk, Alien Crush, and soon Falcom’s Ys series are available to play on a PSP or PlayStation 3.

These games are finally heading Westward, thanks to a leak from USK. Germany’s video game rating board has the following games in their database:

Bonk’s Adventure
New Adventure Island
World Sports Competition
Victory Run
Soldier Blade
Dungeon Explorer
Super Star Soldier
Alien Crush
Bomberman ’94

All of these are listed with "Sony-PSP" as the system so these re-ratings aren’t for Virtual Console or anything of the sort. Hudson told us (a long time ago) a collection of TurboGrafx-16 games are coming to PSN in North America, but never set a date. Looks like that could be happening soon.

  • Soldier Blade’s boss theme on surround then. Nice.

  • Cool! But I’m more hopeful of import PSOne games.

  • I’m hoping when these do come to North America, they’re playable for both the PS3 and PSP, instead of just the PSP.

Also, if this gets done, Konami, can you take another look at a little game called Dracula X, please?

I mentioned this in another article, but the current firmware for the PSP has a sort option for games on the memory stick. When sorted by system, PCEngine and Neo Geo show up as folders. So, everything’s actually ready to work (and I’m aware that this is probably because the part of the firmware that deals with this is included in all regions since it’s a technical thing). They just need the licenses and permissions to put them on there.

Nice, especially considering Europe is in desperate need of more than a little PSN love.

  • Oooh… Bomberman…

Fingers crossed, I hope the SuperGrafx’s version Ghouls ‘N’ Ghosts makes is also released.

    Can they add trophies?

Too bad Exile is not a Hudson game. I’m getting Bonk then :p

Also, does this include Super CD games?
