Classic Namco Arcade Games Re-imagined As Namco Generations

By Spencer . November 16, 2010 . 2:02pm

Namco Generations_LogoFollowing in the footsteps of Pac-Man Championship Edition, Namco Bandai is starting a brand for all of their re-imagined arcade games. Introducing Namco Generations, a suite of arcade classics for PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade.

Three games were announced under this label: Pac-Man Championship Edition DX (which comes out on Xbox Live Arcade), Galaga Legions DX, and Aero-Cross. Back in 2008, Namco released Galaga Legions for Xbox Live Arcade, the DX version is probably an update of that. We’ve seen Aero-Cross pop up in rating boards before and Namco Bandai confirmed it’s a remake of Metro Cross.

Namco Bandai says more remake announcements are coming next year. Any particular Namco game you’re hoping to see in HD?

It was announced a long time ago.. unless you mean you hope to see it’s being localized for the US?

Just get the Japanese demo for now. Battles are a fustercluck of awesome even without knowing Japanese.

I was under the impression that this line, “Namco Generations” is for older games. Gaces F is new, any way you slice it. But I second seeing it here in English. It, Vesperia (don’t have a 360 sadly), and the new Tales game.

Actually, if it was up to me, I’d want the DS ones as well! …Except Tempest, Japan can keep it. xD

Not gonna lie, I don’t know much about Namco’s lineup pre-’90s. A lot of their current games are longstanding franchises anyway, so they don’t need reviving. But for the ones that do, I hope they take a similar approach to what Taito did with Space Invaders: Infinity Gene.

What would be also interesting for me is if they turned the modern games retro. Like, Enslaved as a 16-bit platform adventure!

Rolling Thunder, Mappy, Tower of Druaga, New Rally-X, Dragon Buster, Legend of Valkyrie and Dig-Dug remakes, please! :D

Wish I never bought Pac-Man CE and Galaga Legions… or they offered these “updates” as cheap DLC.
