Fallout: New Vegas Is The Second Best Selling Game Of October

Fallout: New Vegas Is The Second Best Selling Game Of OctoberAccording to the NPD, Fallout: New Vegas took the number two spot on the best selling games of October 2010 chart. You’re looking at the top selling title, NBA 2K11 from Take Two. Sports games were a slam dunk last month with soccer, football, and basketball (should we count wrestling too?) titles selling strong.

Fable III also brought Microsoft a king’s ransom. While it wasn’t number one, it climbed up to fourth place with only five days of sales. Fable III was released in North America on October 26.

So many PS2 game still on this list…I’m so very pleased.

Sports titles are always the last to go. They did PS1 Madden as late as 2002 as I recall, Gamecube lasted to like 2007 and you could order it through EA for Xbox in 2009.

Wow, that’s crazy. I didn’t know Madden ’09 for the xbox existed! Too bad Some Obscure but Amazing J-RPG ’09 doesn’t exist for the PS2… or does it? :O

The only reason to note it was that it did not receive release anywhere but through EA directly. As a result it is a true rarity, a sports title that is rare. About the only other such title in recent memory was that GC NCAA 2k game (I think its 2003) that was only shipped for pre-orders…..and who in the hell would have preordered a college basketball game on the gamecube. And I can’t recall another company direct sales only title since the final days of the 2600.

“and who in the hell would have preordered a college basketball game on the gamecube.”

XDXD I’ll believe it when I see it.

Somehow, I doubt the PS2 versions actually made the top 10.

I hope Vanquish sold somewhat well….

I seethe with rage when I see The Force Unleashed II sold so well when so many other games deserved to sell better.

NBA 2K11 is a special basketball game. Unless you dislike Michael Jordan, because many of the new modes and features are dedicated to him. Watching Jordan do it all is part of my childhood memories though, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Seeing a sports franchise that goes through arbitrary annual updates suddenly put so much effort into an installment with a massive tribute to b-ball history commands my respect. I’ve stopped buying b-ball games since 2K1 on the Dreamcast, but this is truly the kind of thing that brings me back.
