Lord Of Arcana’s Bloodier Breed Of Monster Slayers Come This January

Square Enix’s take on the monster hunting genre is just a few months away. Lord of Arcana is set to come out on January 25, 2011 in stores and PlayStation Network download.

The news came with a snippet about the game’s story. Here’s why Slayers are hunting Agni, the magma monster in the picture above.

This world is called Horodyn, so named for its first king.

At the edge of a village surrounded by a huge forest lies the powerful stone Arcana, the source of all order in the world.

It is said that only one with power can acquire Arcana.

Slayers annihilate hordes of monsters so that they can lay their hands on Arcana.

What power does it hold? And to what destiny is one with Arcana bound?

Curious? There are two Lord of Arcana demos to play on Japan’s PlayStation Store. Those probably won’t let you import data in the US version though. No news if Square Enix will release those here before Lord of Arcana launches or not.

  • What is this?! lol, January – March is the new Oct-Dec or something? Why are all the companies crowding so many games. I want this one, but, lol, this is getting even too much for even I, Ill never get an iPad at this rate.

This game looks nice, I keep my eyes out for a playtest to determine whether or not I invest in the final product.

I bet the PSP is “going out” in a bang. They’re probably rushing because the PSP2 is somewhere ’round the corner. That is just my guess.

This has blown my mind entirely. Squeenix announced and released this game within a year, then a release outside Japan in less than 6 months. That’s Squeenix, a company that normally takes half a decade to make a game and takes at least a year to localize and there’s a digital version of it! I’m afraid reality as we know it is about to end…..

    • Haha, agreed. Tried the first Japanese demo… thought it was meh.

    • Same. But I’ll still buy it for the little fanboyism inside me of this genre and the company.
