So, Dynasty Warriors 7 Is Coming To Xbox 360 Too

At Tokyo Game Show and Tecmo Koei’s press conference, Dynasty Warriors 7 was announced as a PlayStation 3 exclusive. Apparently, that’s just for Japan. Tecmo Koei Europe set March 25, 2011 as the game’s release date and ever so casually mentioned Dynasty Warriors 7 is also coming to Xbox 360.

Dynasty Warriors 7 introduces a fourth faction, the Kingdom of Jin, and has a system that allows players to carry two weapons. The game also has 3DTV support on at least PlayStation 3. It’s unclear if the Xbox 360 version will have a comparable feature.

Never understood why companies in the western world would even consider exclusive third party titles…In this dog eat dog real world of a challenging environment of vying for the consumers money, appealing to a greater number of users is a wise choice for a game of this type.

    The image looks gorgeous

Well, because sometimes MS or Sony are willing to pay money and/or fund development if they can get an exclusive title.

For everyone else, though, multiplatform seems to be the industry standard.

Multiplatform is more open and somewhat more important here in the West than most likely in Japan. For instance, I own 2 of the 3 consoles (just not the Wii atm) and my boyfriend likes the 360 more only because all his friends have LIVE accounts and he can chat with them easier. I personally don’t have a preference between the two, but as long as there’s a RPG (with decent/great characters — since I’m not too picky about gameplay and whatnot.. that’s easy to adapt to) on the system I’ll play it. Another instance, I have a friend that I met on FFXI who owns both systems, but he prefers his 360 over the PS3 because of his LIVE friends too. Plus, from all my experience with helping customers in retail (as both an employee from GameStop and Wal-Mart), the 360 sells the most out of the two consoles. So, if something that’s been on both consoles (like DW & the rest of the Warriors series) was exclusive to one and not the other, not many fans of that series will be unhappy that they can’t play the next installment of their series. (Like me with Samurai Warriors 3 being on the Wii… but it’s announced for the PS3 after the Wii release.)

As much as I enjoy sharing the wealth… I can only hope that this was not at the price of reducing the overall quality of the game. Multiplatforming means that the fundings typically reserved solely for production gets split in twain to transfer the data from one console to another. As well as attempting to make the game functional on both, as opposed to pushing a single system to its limits

    • Barrit

I’m not too familiar with the process myself, but since it IS PS3 exclusive in Japan, wouldn’t that mean it is being built on the PS3 first, and then basically getting localized for all regions afterwards? So essentially it’ll get made using the PS3 tools and then follow the process of getting “ported” out? At least that’s what I’m hoping, since it seems games built for the PS3 first and then ported out still maintain some good quality, where games built on the 360, then ported to PS3 is where we seem to get the shaft in quality.

      • Testsubject909

Then I hope that the 360 owners won’t get shat on.

And somehow, part of me doubts that they would’ve tried to optimize it for the PS3 to the point where it would be impossible to port over. Uncharted 2 is an exemple of a game that just can’t make a proper port over to the 360 mainly due to exploiting the PS3′s multi-cores.

Good news to me! One of these lives I need to get a PS3, but until then at least I’ll be able to play this. Now if they just announce Dynasty Warriors Gundam 3, I’ll be happy.

    • WonderSteve

I wouldn’t worry too much. This is Tecmo Koei. I am sure your wish will be granted

      • http://flailthroughs.blogspot.com Flailthroughs

I think Namco Bandai does the actual releasing for the DWG series, at least in the US, but I’m reasonably hopeful.

  • Guest

Thanks a lot Koei really. Thanks. Way to live up to the potential of the PS3′s power.

    • Hraesvelgr

      Oh boy, here we go.

  • Zal_Yagun

Hate to say this but damn it took this long before anyone here noticed that during the announcement.

Either way, why just Europe? Why is it announced outside of japan before coming out in japan? Where is Dynasty warriors: gundam 3? Will Bamco handle it? Will they pull some Bs where licensing issues are involved? because the new series 00 and unicorn are already out in America and I’m allergic to bullshit

  • kupomogli

I’m sorry 360 fans. I feel your pain. While I no longer own a 360 I don’t even want this on the PS3.

  • glemtvapen

    I don’t care about DW7. I want Musou Orochi Z to come here. D:

    • Zal_Yagun

Technically it is out… Under the name Warriors Orochi 2 for the psp. All the new content for Z are in the psp game, So Benki and San Zang plus two of orochi’s elite mooks are playable, plus the extra dream stages. I think the only things not in the game are separate player teams and mini games.

I was impressed by it since it threw away the connect areas of the other warriors psp games and kept the large battlefields. Lowest amount of kills I had was around 800.

  • Aiddon

and no one cares. This series is the epitome of boring and repititive

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Aunna-Terrell/100001267508146 Aunna Terrell

And sooo many other games as well (COD, racing, sports, etc), but people still play them.

Dynasty Warriors has been about the same exact war with the same exact battles and same story events. All they ever seem to do is add more characters and give gimmick abilities. Every year I rent it to see what they add and I get “It’s.. It’s Lu Bu!” Koei does not know how to improve or innovate. They add many characters and flourishes they never fix what’s wrong.

  • godmars

And not a damn was given that day…

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Aunna-Terrell/100001267508146 Aunna Terrell

Both consoles (PS3 & 360) will support the stereoscopic 3D.

But apparently, this game is gonna be released worldwide in March 2011, even for the States.. from their tweeted hints. So waiting on the exact date now. ._.

  • HarryHodd

Well we shall see how this turns out. I was hoping for a really solid Dynasty Warriors since the last one was not that great graphically. Hopefully they can push the PS3 a bit and still have a good port.

  • http://twitter.com/Megawarrior345 Elle

This was expected. Everyone in Japan will buy it for PS3.
I was wondering why it was exclusive and I guess I was right.
Anyways, it’s not like that many people cared about it anyway, the some ol’ thing.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Aunna-Terrell/100001267508146 Aunna Terrell

It actually depends on the gamer..

I, for one, am excited about this game. Even if people like to say that it’s the same old thing each and every game, but it really isn’t. Just like all other games from different genres (lol, like I said below — FPS, RPGs, sports, racing, etc), they add/remove stuff into each installment. So, just narrowing down the Warriors series by K-T as being the same ol’ thing each game isn’t truthful. The basic gameplay: yea, the same but with stuff added/removed into it. (Like.. in 4, each character could shoot a bow, but in 5 they removed it.) The characters: ever growing cast (over 60 characters this installment). The storyline, ever changing but still following the Romance of the Three Kingdoms story. (Story is back to the different forces with new playable characters unlocked each stage. And unlike before, you can’t play as the same character for all the stages, since they’re following the story/history..)

So.. basically it’s similar to the others before it but not always the same old thing.

      • http://twitter.com/Megawarrior345 Elle

        to each his own. :)

        I haven’t liked it since 3…or was it 4? hm…

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Aunna-Terrell/100001267508146 Aunna Terrell

I started with 4 and loved it but loved the characters from 5.. Then hated 6. XD 7′s gonna be more like 4 & 5 with more stuff added to it, I’m guessing.

But really.. the characters of this game is what sells the series for me. -_- If there’s great characters, then I’ll keep following the series. I’m excited about all the new characters. Can’t wait to see what they’re like. XD

  • MarkMario

    Dynasty Warriors…Needs to die ಠ_ಠ

    • WonderSteve

Okay, take a deep breath and calm down.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1472407455 Charles Lupula

No, the 360 is stealing all our best exclus…Hahahahaahaha!!!

Okay, I can’t keep a straight face for that one.

  • WonderSteve

Whenever Tecmo Koei or Namco Bandai mention the word “exclusive” about their products, we should all take it with a grain of salt.

  • Draparde

i wonder how many characters will be apart of jin…and if i’ll like any of them…

  • Pichi

Just make the characters unique once more, interchangeable cut scenes, and nice character interactions, and I’m all over it again.
