It’s The Right Time To Announce Jikandia: The Timeless Land

By Spencer . November 24, 2010 . 11:30am

Aksys picked up Jikandia: The Timeless Land another game that plays with time from the creators of Half-Minute Hero.

Residents of Jikandia were unaware of the concept of time for thousands of years… until monsters wrecked havoc on their world by bearing clocks and wristwatches. Fortunately, for the frightened masses a spirit known as Temtem who has control over time and space summons nine heroes. Al, one of the heroes, finds himself separated from his eight buddies. In Jikandia: The Timeless Land you have to help him find them and free the Timeless Land from time.

Jikandia: The Timeless Land lets players set the length of time to explore a dungeon, which are like platformer levels. The longer you make the level, the greater the chance you’ll have of finding rare items and running into tougher monsters. Magic orbs scattered in levels allow players to customize Al. Story scenes also unlock as you play through the game, perhaps at different intervals.

Opus Studio also made an ad-hoc multiplayer mini-game. Four players can enter the Jikandia Coliseum and fight against each other for the top score.

Aksys has Jikandia: The Timeless Land slated for a spring 2011 release on PSP.

Just in case you didn’t catch on to this, Jikandia: The Timeless Land was our puzzlenouncement. "Eleanor Dark" was a reference to an Australian author famous for writing a novel called "The Timeless Land." The pixel blurring was a clue that the game was from Aksys. Remember their Record of Agarest War campaign?

  • Please Aksys, think about not pricing the game at $39.99 like Blazing Souls Accelate…

The boxart and designs looks kind of coolish.

    • Better to get it at $39.99 than not get it at all. XD That’s my thinking, anyway.

      • Jellybit

Except that a $39.99 price tag on a game that doesn’t look like a $40 game to most people could easily result in fewer localizations of like games in the future due to greatly reduced sales.

        • Ladius

Most gamers will pass this up simply because they don’t know of its existence or because it’s a low budget, non-traditional JRPG, while the already interested niche will probably dish out the 39$ without clamoring too much.
That said, I will gladly support a fine company such as Aksys with my money, hoping to see more wonderful announcements from them (999 is so good it almost hurts)..

          • Joanna

I finally got my copy of 999~

I hope to start playing it soon after I finish off a few things.

  • i’ve been wanting someone to localize this

    • Me too. Now we need Half-Minute Hero 2 to get localize.

  • ChaosPaladinFayt

lol, retro music ftw. jikandia ahaha thats hilarious…….lolcats

  • Code

rar, hooray, do like! It reminds me of Cave Story and that can only be a good thing zwz~!

  • Wow! Great news. Aksys has really been picking up some fantastic games lately.

  • This looks cool :D!

  • Pichi

I like the idea of choosing your own time limit. That alone can give plenty of replay value.

  • Pro_from_Dover

    Will buy! Can’t wait!

  • Day one!

  • vall03

this reminds me that I still need to pick up Half-Minute Hero…

  • masuto

    Awesome, I knew it!

  • EvilAkito

Aksys will have some more of my money.

  • Loving the graphics. Kinda reminds me of a cleaner looking cladun.

  • malek86

A platformer? Well that’s a nice change of pace. Want.

  • vadde939

Yay! I got the Eleanor Dark reference right but I still had no idea it would be this.

  • Phoenix_Apollo

So this is Aksys’s other project? I’m pretty surprised. I know a lot of people were thinking it would be XSeed. Still, between this and Agarest Zero, I think it’s safe to say that Aksys has moved up just a bit in the world of localizations.

  • Ladius

I was going to import Jikan from Playasia some days ago, luckily I read Siliconera’s post and decided to wait for the western announcement :PNeedless to say, this is a day one purchase for me :D I’m really glad Aksys is doing the localization, after 999 I like their lineup even more and I’m willing to support them in their endeavours.Let’s hope they manage to snatch the licence for visual novels like Steins Gate, 428 or Umineko PS3, their awesomeness would skyrocket :P
