Heart Power? This Shining Hearts Video Has Plenty

By Spencer . November 25, 2010 . 4:25am

Heart energy, in its own way, is like a currency in Shining Hearts. You can earn it many ways, by talking to people, clearing quests, and fighting monsters. Defeat a monster and the neighboring monsters may express their sadness by releasing blue hearts or anger with yellow hearts.

You can also spend heart energy in many ways like baking bread and picking conversation choices. This communication trailer from Sega demonstrates the system and secret night events with the game’s heroines, which act like date scenes.

  • I want this game.

  • PersonaBull

The hearts in battle situations made me laugh so hard.

I’d probably get this game. Definitely seems entertaining.

  • This game just keeps getting better, i hope SEGA surprise us, if there is a game’s god, NOW IS YOUR TIME TO SHINE.
If not, i hope other great companies become stubborn and start asking for the game *wink*

MAN!! the voice that makes the witch girl, ive come to love that voice because she is mostly in the funniest main heroines, now i know wich one i will choose, thats the same voice that made taiga from toradora, shana from shakugan no shana, zero from zero no tsukaima, and many… other lolis.
Correct me if im wrong, but didnt she made Alphone’s voice in fullmetal alchemist as well?

    • Darkrise

      Kugimiya Rie =P

      • goronyan

くぎゅうううううalso know as the tsundere queen.
there’s no way for me to buy this game with dubs

  • Ok. Who starts sending mail to Sega telling them we want this translated?

    • After so many fan petitions I’ve signed… Let’s say it didn’t turn out well..

      But let’s do this!

      Effort FTW!

  • malek86

Somebody, anybody, please bring this game to the west.

Heck, I’d actually settle for Ignition.

    • I would settle for a random dude in the street that knows decent japanese

      • malek86

I would settle for learning japanese myself.

I know some, but not so much that I would want to import this game. Of course, I could still do it… but, let’s say, only if it doesn’t get localized in the next six months.

        • At this rate, probably it’s better for us to learn japanese so that we could actually play games that we want.

I definitely am enrolling for a japanese course next year

        • I already have 1 year of japanese, and got a lot to learn ahead of me, i still have a lot of troubles, well, my sensei already told me that if you study a lot, you may be able to read a newspaper in…. 3 years of studying, most people say that you will be ok with a minimun of 5 years of study… god T.T.

But with some games ive played, i could defend my self, of course, when the plot gets more complicated, i get more and more lost

          • Yuan

You can try to find a simple article and challenge yourself to read it. Don’t be afraid even though you can’t read them all yet. You must not depend only on the course if you want to get better faster. If you have a free time, try to practise writing or memorising the word.

          • goronyan
          • omg this looks great! thanks a lot :O

    • JustaGenericUser

“Heck, I’d actually settle for Ignition.”

Didn’t mother ever tell you not to say curses?

  • fuzzy_hobo

    Pleeeeeease localize this!

  • goronyan

looking great, it may be later now but i really want sega improve a marriage system too (like in agarest senki ) since the date scenes looks quite interesting.

    • Yuan

No details on marriage system revealed yet. Or perhaps there are none before the ending.

  • glemtvapen

Interesting game but I have a feeling the majority of the time wasted here is going ‘holla back’ to random people just to get some hearts.

I wish we could err.. romance Mistral.

    • Souji Tendou

I think we could. Seeing Mistral can be chosen as our conversation partner at night. But it’s merely my speculation though.

  • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

This on the PSP, Rune Factory 3 on the DS, Last Story on the Wii… I only have so much money for new systems and time to play their games…

Harsh, but gotta pick and choose.

  • I want to murder this game and dump it in a river.

    • M’iau M’iaut

Sorry sir, not all of us here are awaiting that Deep Throat level leak that will confirm that a new Call of Duty series will be out next year.

    • Darkrise

Aren’t you in the wrong article… Why the hell are you even in here if you don’t like this game? And there’s no need to insult a game that “YOU” don’t like. *points finger to the door*

    • how can you murder something that isnt alive? HOW?

      • wait for some strange aeons to come along?

        • If you wanna do something do it yourself! its bad to depend on aeons, havent you seen that in FF they always kidnap the summoning girls and she is mostly useless at those times!?

    • my goodness you people are touchy
I’m just tired of increasingly inane “Shining” games with Tony Taka doing softcore art and dumb anime trope worlds

      • M’iau M’iaut

Actually, with this movie I get a sort of Rune Factory/Little King’s Story vibe a going on. The ‘thrust’ of the game is obvious, but the tone (at least in the clip) is such that I don’t think it impossible to get localized.

And the tropes are why people would buy such a thing. Just as the tropes of CoD and Halo are why folks buy them. Different strokes for different folks.

And for the record any little bossanova witch girl with Kugimiya as VA can trope me all she wants. I ain’t gonna lie or hide from the facts here.

      • JustaGenericUser

Don’t get mad at or blame people for reacting negatively when you say a very vague and vitriolic one-liner. And if you’re tired of anime tropes, you’re not only playing the wrong genre you’re in the wrong SITE.

        • Dont worry too much about that, with those kind of comments, is too obvious he is just trolling around

      • Even though Shining Force was filled with dumb Anime tropes from the beginning? irony IS DELICIOUS. And when you make a nasty comment ofc you are going to get flak for it, don’t be so sensitive. But don’t worry, I liked you, so that should soothe your butthurt.

  • Darkrise

Someone really needs to localize this… The jrpg fans don’t get enough love anymore… *coughnamdaicough* T.T

    • JustaGenericUser

They get love sometimes, just not on consoles…

    • Good thing we still get jrpg love from NISA and Aksys, XSEED, and ATLUS (even if not much lately) D:<

  • puchinri

So… Secret night events are like playing Thousand Arms, except you get to be a baker instead of a blacksmith? (Somehow though, watching the trailer and reading the info made me think Thousand Arms meets Harvest Moon in Shining series form. Which is awesome.)

I’m hoping this gets localized. (And I seriously doubt I’ll be taking Japanese in the Spring, so I really hope this gets localized.)

  • Am I the only one who noticed that the Heart Symbol looks just like the Kingdom Hearts heart? and the weapon look s abit similar to a keyblade…? I’m just sayin’

Also, I wish they would go Back to the EXA world. I wanna see more Toma and Cyrille T~T
