Mamoru-kun Stretches On To PlayStation 3 In March

By Spencer . December 3, 2010 . 12:39am

imageCyberfront is retooling arcade shooter Mamoru-kun for PlayStation 3. I said "retooling" since Cyberfront is adding features to the PS3 version like widescreen support. See this post for a comparison of how Mamoru-kun looks on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Other new features include two downloadable characters from the Xbox 360 release and a new gameplay mode.

On March 31, retailers will get two version of Mamoru-kun. There’s a standard edition for 6,279 yen ($75) and a 8,925 yen ($105) limited edition. Cyberfront packed a 150 page art book, soundtrack CD, and DVD titled "The Perfect Terror" which has tips on how to max out your score.

    Sweet.

Yikes @ price tag. Will wait for 1-2 price drops before even considering this. A demo would help!

Actually the price of retail shmup on hd console has always been very high, just see the Cave shooters released on X360. Of course I can understand being less ready to shell that kind of money for Mamoru-kun than for Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu, Ketsui, Mushihime-sama Futari and Espgaluda 2, but still it’s fairly normal.

That artbook = do want (but not 8925 yen want) :/But I find it really funny that they’re including the superplay DVD. Dollars to donuts it’s the same as the 360 LE DVD, which means the runs displayed won’t be applicable to the game it’s actually packaged with. Gotta get rid of all those extra copies somehow, I guess?Oh well. Arika did the same thing with Ketsui DS, so I guess there’s at least a precedent…

yea, the artbook is a really nice bonus since the 360 LE only had the outer sleeve and superplay DVD, the two DLCs and costumes are nice too.. I really liked Mamoru-kun’s cute art a lot. They should make a KiKi KaiKai / Pocky & Rocky game like the widescreen ver now..Good thing I didn’t get Ketsui on the DS, it was running for like $90, for a DS game!
