imageDementium developer Renegade Kid has been dropping hints about their next game on Twitter. The clues are:

  • Renegade Kid’s fourth game has many exotic locations. None of them, however, include hospitals or outer space.
  • Renegade Kid’s fourth game does include mud. It is not, however, of the mutant variety.
  • Renegade Kid’s fourth game is not a third-person shooter/platform game. It is, however, viewed from a third-person perspective.
  • Renegade Kid’s fourth game does not feature multiple enemies. It does, however, feature multi-player.

Destructoid, who will reveal the game tomorrow, also tells us its a Nintendo DS game.

And the game is… ATV Wild Ride. Yes, Renegade Kid is working on an ATV driving game for the Nintendo DS.

  • I think this is a case of a game with good intentions but being developed on the wrong system. Really an ATV game with exotic locations will just look ugly. For games like these, the presentation is vital and the DS is simply not capable of providing photorealistic visuals of locations that I would consider exotic, if anything on the system they will look murky, unless the game is done in some cel-shaded style.

It doesn’t need to look photorealistic, it just needs to be fun. It can have less-than-stellar graphics, but if it’s like Pure, or even funner, it won’t matter.

Yep, thats the problem with this generation of gamers, they think that graphics are the only thing that matters and also doesn’t get that is always the gameplay that defines a game value.

I know renegade kid, maybe they still need to polish some things, but I admire these guys because they really put much effort on what they do, is more than I can say of many big companies that with all their cash they deliver low quality products and half baked games that many times are filled bugs that require patches.

    • Renegade Kid has done fantastic work with the presentation of their games on the DS. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the same case here, as well, but this will be interesting to see.
At the very least, I can picture it looking like Jet Moto, which ain’t bad in my book ;)

Also, maybe I missed it, but are they still working on the other DS game (or DSiWare)? I think it was a platformer.

Interesting change of work, considering it’s about as far away from FPS’s as you can get. I wonder how it will do?
