Deus Ex: Human Revolution Delayed For Extra Polishing Time

By Spencer . December 16, 2010 . 12:31am

imageSquare Enix originally planned to ship Deus Ex: Human Revolution by the end of this fiscal year. So, March would have been the latest release target for Eidos Montreal’s Deus Ex reboot.

Today, Square Enix changed their plans and delayed the game to their next fiscal term. This timeframe change will allow Eidos Montreal to spend further time polishing the game, Square Enix says.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is in development for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. When we met with Eidos Montreal Jean-François Dugas, lead designer, told us test players, including a few invited Deus Ex fans, already played through the entire game at the studio and gave feedback to the team.

Could it be that they’re using the time to remove regenerating health? I sure hope so.

    • FHOIW

Or making it so slow it’s near non-existent. Lol.

Hmm. If the game is already completed more or less and all they’re doing is polishing it, I can’t imagine it will be pushed beyond 2011. Either way, Square’s HD lineup next year is looking pretty thin… I wonder if there will be some serious surprises in store.

EDIT: My guess starts with F… as in fubar. Fubar really just stands for “Tofu salad bar”.

Looks like there may be more news abrewin on this front. According to Gamasutra, they are also announcing a 90 PERCENT drop in expected profits. There’s a conference being held in Tokyo where even Wada’s gonna show.

If the news is this bad, this becomes the year to trash and toss anything that is not appearing up to snuff. And yusaku’s right, they ain’t got any silver bullets for the rest of the calendar year unless agito or versus find there way to store shelves. They may want Angelina Jolie to ride to their rescue but that’s still a toss up.

90 PERCENT?! I knew it was bad but I had no idea… O_O

So, I was afraid that the PS3 version would be a crappy port.

    Now I’m scared shitless.

    • Yusaku_Matsuda70s

What does this have to do with that?

Failure! Failure! Failure! Can I just say that this is the worst news of the day?! (and its just 7am!)

I am liek so totally angry now! This throws off my plans for March, I was so liek totally hoping to play this game! Darn! The special edition better still come out dude!

you prefer a game not polish and full of bugs ?

      • http://tristsantithesis.tumblr.com/ Tsunayoshi Sawada

The best innovation in this industry is patches, they can release the game and if there are any outstanding bugs issue a day zero patch and then patch it some more later.

        • alastor3

oh really ? I remember when Fallout New Vegas came out how it was taken down everywhere because of the bugs

  • Aiddon

the game was also going to be released in a BUSY time frame. Heck, it was even going to launch the same day as Dragon Age 2.

  • PrinceHeir

can’t wait for the game to come out. the only way to bounce back from the loss from square is release one of their PS1 classics of all time. Parasite Eve Archives, Chrono Cross, Vagrant Story, Xenogears, Saga Series.
