Make And Share Your Own Quests In Dissidia 012[duodecim]: Final Fantasy

By Spencer . January 11, 2011 . 4:12pm

imageSounds like Dissidia 012[duodecim]: Final Fantasy will have a robust single player mode. The PSP pre-sequel has new episodes with characters like Lightning and Laguna plus the entire storyline from Dissidia: Final Fantasy.

You’ll be able to play through the previous PSP game’s story using assist moves and other revisions made for Dissidia 012[duodecim]. Past episodes have newly created short scenarios to play too.

Dissidia 012[duodecim]: Final Fantasy also lets players make the fanfic of their dreams. You can make and exchange original quests in Dissidia 012[duodecim]: Final Fantasy. It isn’t clear how players distribute quests, but leaky retailer Game Star says quests can be shared across the country. Battle for Tifa’s heart scenario, here we come!

Square Enix included a data import feature where your save file from Dissidia: Final Fantasy or Dissidia: Final Fantasy Universal Tuning can be carried over. All character levels are retained in Dissidia 012[duodecim]: Final Fantasy plus you get a special accessory as a bonus.

Dissidia 012[duodecim]: Final Fantasy is slated for March 3 in Japan and it’s one of Square Enix’s Q1 titles in the West.

  • AWESOME, I think I am going to love this game. DAY 1, MAN DAY 1.

  • “All character levels are retained in Dissidia 012[duodecim]: Final Fantasy”

Good, now i don’t need to kill tre–i mean Ex-Deaths for levels

    • That is so unfair, new people like me will have to start with everything from square one?! :(

      • Why should this be unfair? Veterans can refine their skills, and do the new things, without leveling like crazy again, whereas new player can start from the beginning and enjoy the full thing, I find this quite fair.

      • Exkaiser

That would be how most people start games, yes.

      • you’re not alone i played the old one but i feel like starting fresh for this one

      • Why don’t you just buy the first one and play it? You can get your levels that way. It’s not an impossibly hard game at all.

        • Yeah right, until you start fighting stuff WAY beyond the level cap. :(

          • People like me have had to do that when we played the game anyway.

      • I have my save data, but i might start from zero…, is more fun that way… hehe…. hehehehe…. hehehehhehehehe!!! start from zero again and go up all the way and grind and fight AGAIN AND AGAIN~!!!!

        • Damn~ o_ò
I think you have taken the wrong medicine dude. xd

          • BUT IS BETTER THAT WAY, Hehheaheha *explodes* xD

        • You’re crazy.

        • kupomogli

I maxed out six characters on Dissidia before I downloaded a save data. I later on restarted my character from scratch and then changed the date and time one day forward until hitting the bonus day(so I could also get consecutive days as well,) and then got four characters to level 100 as well as maxing out every skill I used. I wanted to have a legitimate character, not something that I copied.

Let me just say that it gets boring quickly. I still have that save data, but I also have the 100% save data when playing other people. When literally everyone on adhoc party has all level 100 characters, more than likely downloading a save data, you don’t want to just use the same few characters over and over. It’s like. Yeah sorry. I only have Warrior of Light, Frionel, Bartz, Cloud, Squall, and Sephiroth maxed out(everyone minus Frionel and Sephiroth on my current new game but on my old game those are the characters I had.)

So I’ll use my current new game with four people almost maxed on Duodecim, but more than likely I’ll download a save data once boredom after 20+ hours of grinding kicks in.

      • MrSirFeatherFang

Actually if you want to cheat you could get a save online :) Though all the old characters will be overpowered lol

        • Oh snaps! Youre right dude!!! lol, I could just snag a 100% save file online! Now I wont be on a lower level than everyone else.

      • PrinceHeir

        “Battle for Tifa’s heart scenario”

yay :D please make one for yuna too :P

don’t worry once AR MAX updates it cheat codes with Duodecim, you’ll be level 99 in no time, i know i did :D

I still haven’t seen a SephirothTerra fanfic, maybe I finally will!
But maybe it’s because I’m not looking very hard.

Seriously, though, I really like this idea. I love these builders because players can think up some great ideas. I’m sure there will be some ridiculous quests, but I’ve no doubt there will be some quality ones in the pile as well.

    • I hope SephirothTerra is different from Sephiroth x Terra… I’d cry if you meant the latter. You wouldn’t want that, would you? :(

      • Well, Sephiroth HAS been known to stick it to female members of ancient races before, if you know what I mean ;P

      • I’d make Zidane keeps all the girls, he is just that cool and it would suit him…

        Quest name: Zidane’s Harem!

Quest Description: Help Zidane steal all the girls hearts! Beat all male characters with no healing between battles, and at the end, prove your strengh againts these female goddess!~ The ultimate battle for his dream!

        Can you conquer them all!?.

Reward: Expect sweet dreams once you go sleep at night when the quest is finished :D

      • Ereek

Yes, yes I would. Because I love ridiculous fanfiction pairings. It’s funny to see how they work out, but it’s not like I go looking for them.

I only mention SephirothTerra because compared to some of the other pairings I’ve seen for Dissidia (CoDSquall? KujaMateus?) it “works.” Sephiroth has a mother complex and Terra wants to be a mother, that’s enough reason right there for some of those crazy Japanese fanfiction writers.

I’ve never read any more than joke fanfiction in English, but some of the Japanese fanfiction can be surprisingly well written, even if a bit ridiculous. Is all fanfiction in English that bad?
Edit: Well, actually, looking at some mods for games, I’d definitely say English fanfiction writers can write an excellent story. Unless mods wouldn’t be considered fanfiction?

        • No no, I think mods/fics can be fantastic, but it takes a certain kind of setting for me to be able to believe in them. For example, I think something like Pokemon makes a great settting for fics because it’s a “world” and you can basically create your own characters to fit into it.

There’s a lot of room for taking creative liberties there without coming off as unbelievable or ridiculous I think. You can have new trainers, new villains, a new land etc etc. and it wouldn’t feel out of place.

FF and KH to me are more “set” in their ways, so it always feels a little odd when I see fics with weird pairings or retconning because that’s like a barrier in between the reader and story right away.

(Sephiroth x Terra Oedipus complex is totally creepy btw ><)

  • Wow so then there is no need for me to quickly buy the first game to play around with the mechanics and try to master them? Awesome!

  • Very awesome! I had never gotten around to buying the first one, and figured that (like most fighting games) there’d be little reason to play or ever buy the first once the second was out. I’m glad to see this is even more the case with the original’s plot flat out being featured in the second. :D

Also kudos to Squenix for letting people keep their levels between games. I know a lot of friends who played the hell out of the first one, and are probably happy to jump right in with their hard work (ie time spent) actually meaning something rather than being thrown out.

  • I’m hoping that player designed quests will be appended to Friend Cards. If so, then it sounds like Duodecim is designed to last.

  • I’m gonna make a quest where everyone is fighting for Tifa lol

    • I wonder how flexible this editor will be. Watch people create/share Final Fantasy XIII Final Mix Portable +

      • Haha, i hope they let us do a lot of stuff, we could even do original stories through quests, using the ff characters, that would be just awesome! Ahhh…, well, maybe we won’t move the 3D chars, just the make script and changing character potraits…. Can’t wait to see more news about this

    • I am actually imaging everyone fighting Vaan because he keeps stealing Tifa’s panties to wear. If I do decide on a PSP, that will one of the first scenarios I make. lol

  • nyrjin

The more i hear about this game the more I want it, and the more sure I am that I will skip every cutscene.

  • XseiroTaire

I guess there isn’t the option to simply get the accessory and not keep the levels from before, is there…
And exactly how does one make these quests?

    • You’re not the only one who wants an option. If It’s JUST Character levls (And not money, Items, etc), I’ll probably just make a janky Save with all level ones just so I can get the accessory. I want to start fresh for Duodecim.

  • LynxAmali

    What exactly does this mean?

Will this mean we will be able to set the fights up the way we would want them as well as the dialog pre-fight?

Because if that’s what it means, I am so ~

Wait. I was getting this anyway. xD

  • Pichi

Making your own fanfic and keeping levels is a big win for me! Will get, SE! This will be really fun to play with…

  • Sephiroth X Kuja here I go!

  • cj_iwakura

How the heck does Dissidia’s story fit on this UMD? It was the most ridiculously drawn-out story mode ever.

    • Take out all the repetitive cutscenes that dominated the story (I don’t mean repetitve as boring; there were literally multiple versions of the same cutscene in some cases!), and since it’ll take place on one huge map (bar a few dungeons), they don’t need so many versions of the Destiny Board. Also, they said that a lot of scenes would be done Visual Novel Style.

  • PrinceHeir

yay yuna is confirmed in this game(obviously) :)

only Rikku, Paine, Snow, Fang and Seifer :) and this will be perfect ^^

  • Nice

  • Man I wasn’t going to buy this but now… now.. ugh!

  • Retained character levels? Awesome! I don’t have to go through all of that grinding and date changing to get everyone to level 100 again. And…making your own stories? I’ve got a few ideas…

and imagine the predetermined parties. If they use the old characters (which they will), all of my characters will kick ass. Except Kefka. No one likes kefka.

  • Well since I came no where near finishing the game on the first Dissidia, I’ll be glad to start over from scratch. And I should still have a save data somewhere so it won;t be a total waste :D

  • Why didn’t they add characters from Tactics original in dissidia
