The wait to play The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time 3D at Nintendo World was the longest at 130 minutes, over two hours for a demo. Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle was 70 minutes and AR Games had the third longest waiting time with 50 minutes.

That box cover is looking pretty sleek. I like it. Hope we get similar treatment.

And omg! I love the cover of the middle Nintendogs game. I know which one I’ll be getting!

  • http://tristsantithesis.tumblr.com/ Tsunayoshi Sawada

Will the US event be the same?

Nice photos, I hope we get something other than Azure Blue and Cosmo Black, simply because I think barf colored green and carnival orange are more vibrant colors and funner, you know? Though the blue and black boxes look hot!

I hope the purple one comes out. I like the Purple one QQ

I’ll be attending Nintendo World in NYC on the 19th.

    • Aoshi00

There’s an a 3DS event in the Nintendo store in NYC this Wed? If so, I might go check it out after work or something..

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Tommy-Lee/518924335 Tommy Lee

I wanted to go when I found out about it, but it turns out it’s a press-only event. (._.) There’s an event on the same day in Amsterdam as well.

        • Aoshi00

Oh man, was thinking to check out the 3D effect (that’s how I tried Nintendogs when it first came out).. guess it’s kinda expected to be press-only this early and the NY store isn’t so big.. lines around the block would’ve been crazy.. good thing you let me know, otherwise I would walk all the way up there for nothing lol.. (I don’t really go to Rockefeller Center anymore ever since Kinokuniya moved down to 42nd)

      • http://tristsantithesis.tumblr.com/ Tsunayoshi Sawada

Are you sure its the store? That doesnt seem like, a place to do such an event…

        • Aoshi00

They had held many events there, it was original a Pokemon store years ago and then turned into a Nintendo store. Miyazaki was there several years ago (I think it was for Nintendogs, I waited for hours but couldn’t go in to see him, only saw him from the outside). Usually launch events are either held in the Nintendo World Store or the Toysrus at Time Square like the Kinect launch.

          • http://tristsantithesis.tumblr.com/ Tsunayoshi Sawada

but those are public, would they really close the store for press only? (seems like a loss of money)

          • Aoshi00

Why would they lose money holding an event for the press, the store belongs to Nintendo. A US release date for the 3DS isn’t even announced yet, it would’ve been strange if they hold a public event so soon.

          • http://tristsantithesis.tumblr.com/ Tsunayoshi Sawada

I dont know, closing the store to the public while the press gets to attend the store means they would lose money from potential customers there to regularly buy the goods offered. Though I guess I underestimte the size of the store, just how big could a “Nintendo World” even be, gamestop sized?

          • Aoshi00

It’s two-storied. And an event to the press for advertisement is hardly a loss of money. I’m sure Nintendo could afford closing it for the day for an event, just like Toysrus held the Kinect event the other day.

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Tommy-Lee/518924335 Tommy Lee

They have some of the plaza outside to hold demo booths. They did that for the DQIX launch event. Although… It is winter now and it was a cool, damp, cloudy summer day for DQIX…

          http://www.siliconera.com/2010/07/18/dragon-quest-ix-launch-event-reader-impressions/

(Yes. I’ll admit I’m gloating a little about the fact I went to that. I can’t help it though. I had such a blast.)

          • http://tristsantithesis.tumblr.com/ Tsunayoshi Sawada

Lucky!!! They never have events like that down here in the nations birthplace, I mean, Virginia. One would think such a premiere state would get more focus for these things. Anyway, I guess the place is bigger than I imagined

          • Zero_Destiny

Wow I’m jealous lol. Would of loved to of gone to a cool event for DQIX. Sadly I had to settle for the Gamestop event where you downloaded the map. What’s worse was when I came in at like 1pm (I think it started around 10am) the lady at the counter there told me I was the first one there who even knew what DQIX was lol. Stuck around but no one else came :( It wasn’t all bad the lady and I joked at how Gamestop gave her all these silly lines to say to people and stuff. But yeah would of loved to of gone to a Dragon Quest event that actually had people. lol

          • Joanna

oh that’s horrible. I guess I lucked out since my location had quite a few people there. I think I canvassed around 30 people all together. It might be because there were like only two locations in the area…thankfully one of them was close by.

  • https://twitter.com/RaiohV ShinkaRaioh

Man 130 minutes for a single demo…I hope it was worth it. xd

I really like the colours, would look quite nice in my hands xD

  • http://denpanosekai.blogspot.com denpanosekai

I was there on Sunday and skipped the Zelda demo because of the massive line. I got to try:

    - Ridge Racer
Music was fantastic. Handles superbly with the 3DS nub. Annoying announcer as usual.

    - Metal Gear
Just a slightly interactive movie, still breathtaking in person.

    - Biohazard
HYPE GET. Rock solid controls, amazing graphics. Looks pretty damn scary too, although it’s closer to RE5 than RE1 in terms of spookiness factor. 3D really worked well in this case, especially when blood gets shed.

    - Steel Diver
Way more fun than anticipated. Not sure if would pay full price, but definitely a nice pickup down the line.

    - Kid Icarus
Controls kinda sucked. Wish it was more freeform like Sin & Punishment 2. Easy was WAY too easy, still kicking myself that I didn’t pick hard. Graphics are superb though.

    - Dead or Alive
There was some weird combo selection thing on the bottom screen. I don’t like to hold a stylus while playing a fighting game so I didn’t pay attention to it. Graphics are nice, not much point to the 3D aspect other than pretty backgrounds. Could use more jiggling.

    - Pilotwings
SON I AM VERY VERY DISAPPOINT. I loved Pilotwings SNES and while this tries pretty hard to recreate the magic, the 3D effect makes everything way too blurry. This game has to be played with the 3D slider all the way down, unless you enjoy completely shitty backgrounds.

    • http://tristsantithesis.tumblr.com/ Tsunayoshi Sawada

I dont even know what Pilotwings is, but was it like the flying in the island on that Wii Sports Resort island?

Can you elaborate more on the controls, were they really that terrible?

      • http://denpanosekai.blogspot.com denpanosekai

I know you hate to read AND STUFF but
        http://www.siliconera.com/2011/01/14/kid-icarus-uprising-impressions-space-harrier-style-medusa-shooting/

Direct your eyes to the third wall of text. Call an adult if you can’t do this step by yourself.

I’m sure the controls can be mastered after a couple hours, but they still feel sub-optimal. Again, I just wish this played more like S&P2, that should say it all. Rotating the camera was a major pain in the ass, which didn’t help my impression.

    • Kris

I’m really curious about how comfortable the 3DS is. You say the nub was great for Ridge Racer? I know it’s really hard to describe in text how something felt, but can you liken it to any other controller?
I’m assuming the buttons and D-pad are just like the DSi’s, but did you notice any difference?

      • http://denpanosekai.blogspot.com denpanosekai

Buttons are great! They kinda click a bit, giving you a clear feeling of whether they’re pressed or not. My friend was also impressed with them, but it’s really hard to put into words.

Same with the nub. Let’s just say it’s about a million times better than the PSP nub, for starters. Remember the NES Max? It’s pretty much the same thing, except with 360 degree control of course. You don’t have to FIGHT with this nub, it just goes where your thumb takes it.

I actually didn’t use the DPad all that much, now that I think about it. Maybe for menus and stuff. Felt about the same as the DS.

        • NeoTechni

So it doesnt try to return to the middle? Thats a million times WORSE than PSP. Its supposed to return to the middle so you know where the deadzone/neutral/not moving position is.

          The NES Max SUCKED

    • NeoTechni

      Please, stop the meme crap.

      • http://denpanosekai.blogspot.com denpanosekai

So… you “like” my post, then you give me some attitude?!?

Whatever. To answer your MAX question, no. The nub does re-center itself when you let go. It’s just much smoother than the PSP. But the way you fit your thumb in the middle and slide the nub around is more or less the same as MAX.

        • NeoTechni

          i gave no attitude

i dont see how it can be smoother, elasticity only works one way
do you mean its slower with less resistance?

  • https://twitter.com/#!/SplashdownTiger STiger

    No… no orange 3DS? D8

  • BelmontHeir

No fair, Nintendo, using 3 different versions of Nintendogs to make it look like the 3DS has more launch games than it actually does. ;D

  • Caligula

Gahhh, the 3ds looks gorgeous. Can’t wait for it.

  • Tokyo Guy

Where exactly is the Black/Red 3DS? I can’t stand how these companies do this because not only does it hint of deceptive advertising (i.e. publicly showcasing a product that isn’t being released) but you KNOW they will release it later. Why is it that there are only 2 colors available at launch when it prominently showed THREE before?

I for one, would take the Red/Black variant over any of the other colors, any day.

    • vadde939

Well the black/red 3DS was only prominently shown at E3. I believe Nintendo Japan only showed blue and black on their website and Iwata asks etc. And since different regions often get different colours I believe that although Japan isn’t getting the red one (yet) it may be available for the US or EU launch.

    • Aoshi00

I would love a Red/black one too, I love my Mario XL now. I don’t think I would get the blue, but a plain black or white is okay by me too, I don’t like flashy color for consoles. Is the inside of the system glossy, if so then piano black would not do, smudges and fingerprints would show constantly like the PSP.

    • Zero_Destiny

Would love a Red and Black one too. Sadly all I have to say is get used to being disappointed with color choices at launch especially with Nintendo. I still remember the E3 where the Wii was first revealed. They showed a rainbow of colors for Wiis. I really wanted the Black or Red one BUT all we got was white. It wasn’t even until like a year or two ago until we got a black one and just now did we get a red one and that’s only a special limited edition console.

  • Zero_Destiny

Kind of off topic but I’m startin’ to warm up to the 3DS boxes. I don’t think there great or anything and the change of side for the logo still annoys me but I like how the boxes are all white. Can’t wait to get my hands on a 3DS!!!

  • Yui

    europe sucks.

  • Tom_Phoenix

I guess you need a lot of TIME in order to play Ocarina of Time…

Oh man, that was a lame pun. XD On a serious note, though, it is amazing how a remake can draw so much attention.
