Seems Like Prope’s Flying Game Is Landing Here As Rodea The Sky Soldier

By Spencer . January 19, 2011 . 10:49pm

imageDuring the holiday lull we discovered a trademark for Rodea the Sky Soldier filed by Kadokawa Games in the USA. Ishaan and I couldn’t make heads or tails of it then, but now we know what it’s for – Prope’s upcoming Wii / Nintendo 3DS game.

This week’s issue of Famitsu has a feature of Machinist of the Sky Rodea, which could easily be interpreted as Rodea the Sky Soldier. The title (surprise!) is being published by Kadokawa Games in Japan.

While Kadokawa Games does not have a US office, they already have a localized title and they’re protecting it in the States. Both are good signs that Rodea the Sky Soldier will be released overseas, but who will pick it up? Our money is on Xseed.

Most excellent. I really hope Rodea’s 3D flight feels as comfortable as Nights’s 2D flight from all those years ago. I’m also liking the art direction a lot more than I initially expected!

  • Pichi

Excellent! Hope this leads to faster official announcement.

  • Thank God they kept it as Rodea and not the suspected Rodeo!

  • kylehyde

Good new to me, this title looks really promising.

  • PrinceHeir

the bosses kinda reminded me of Shadow of the Colossus with combination of Nier :D

    • GamerKT

      Wouldn’t that be ridiculously amazing?

  • Excellent! The announcement and now these signs of a localization, both so close together, make me happy.

Edit: Saw the screens and boss. This looks like the next pseudo Panzer Dragoon fix (^o^)/

Now why can’t other developers be like this? Seems like a efficent way of doing things. Except no mention of a European release…Oh well I’ll just import… *remembers 3DS is region locked*…DAMMIT!

    • With the Wii being pseudo region free through homebrew, it would be a good alternative.

No 3D and less shader effects, but you get a higher resolution, higher polygon county if they bother, and the remote’s A and B buttons combined with the pointer might make things easier to control compared to the touchscreen. Surely helped Ivy the Kiwi Wii version a lot.

Well considering Rising Star published Ivy The Kiwi in Europe there’s a pretty good chance they could do the same with this. Especially if XSEED is the US publisher as RSG have brought a fair amount of their games to EU.

Awesome. I’d really love to see Xseed pick up both this and Earth Seeker. And if they’re really feeling brave, maybe Metal Max 3 or RPG Maker DS as well.

    • puchinri

That would be so fantastic. I’m really hoping for this now.
