Phantom Breaker Breaks Into Stores This April

By Spencer . January 25, 2011 . 11:25am

image5pb’s all girls fighting game, Phantom Breaker, is scheduled for release on April 28. The Xbox 360 game utilizes Xbox Live for online matches, but why are they fighting?

A mysterious man called the Phantom controls Tokyo from behind the scenes. He set up the tournament and invited beautiful duelists to compete. Whoever dominates the competition gets their wish fulfilled. You’ll have to play Phantom Breaker to find out what the Phantom’s goal is.

A tip of the hat and humble thanks to Denpa no Sekai for the heads up!

Whats so hard about also releasing these games to the PS3? 360 is so minimal in Japan; how do they make their money back..

    • neo_firenze

Because the niche fanbase that supports these kinds of games in Japan do own 360s. 2D shooters, visual novels, anime fighters, arcade stuff… Just because there are more PS3 or Wii owners in Japan doesn’t mean that the mass-market audience cares about these niche genres. The Japanese players who care about Phantom Breaker or Bullet Soul probably DO own 360s, even though the average mainstream Japanese gamer might not.

Also, 5pb is typically a 360 publisher. Phantom Breaker will be their 14th 360 game released, if Wikipedia’s list is accurate. They haven’t released a single PS3 game, although they do have one planned (Akatsuki no Amaneka to Aoi Kyojin – a port of a PC game). Makes sense to me that they’d be more comfortable with the system they have much more experience publishing for.

Yeah these games are big hits on 360 but even the PS3 version of Blazblue outdid the 360 version so I wouldn’t be surprised if they eventually port Phantom Breaker to PS3, it’s just that a company the size of 5pb probably can’t handle both versions at once.

yeah i also think if more shumps are on the PS3 or both. we could probably see the side by side sales. and which one sells better.

oh well hopefully we get this on the PS3, since it’s region free and all ^^

    XBLA only, dammit!
The d-pad from xbox 360 is horrible for fighting games.

Hmm… All-female-fighter? Is this Arcana Hear-! Wait. Don’t go there man, don’t go there…

Surprised no one’s tried an *all-male fighting game, what with all the Yaoi fans out there.

*Not too sure on this and I’m not going to try and search for it at work due to potential NSFW material that could crop up >_<
